Happy National Gingerbread House Day! After the 1st gingerbread house was built in 1812 in Germany, the tradition was brought to Pennsylvania by German immigrants. Gingerbreads typically use baked gingerbread dough, melted sugar, candy, confections, and icing. The record for the World's Largest Gingerbread House was set in Texas in 2013. Do you have a tradition of building a gingerbread house in your home?

Today is Christmas Card Day... back in 1915, Hallmark published its first Christmas card. To this day, we purchase about 1.6 billion Christmas cards each year here in the US. The tradition has not died yet, even though emailing cards and using social media are gaining popularity.

Today is National Christmas Tree Day... did you know that around 30 million real trees are cut down each year in the US to be used as Christmas trees? The first artificial Christmas trees were made n the 1880s in Germany and the 1930s in the US. Around 10 million artificial trees are sold each year in the US.

It's that time of year to decorate with lights... do you prefer all white or multi-color, big bulbs or little twinkle lights. Do you fight with the tangled light strands every year or do you pack them up nicely in January.
