In honor of International Women’s Day, we’re taking a moment to recognize our team of women, largely behind the scenes, that have been working so hard to bring DanceRX to life.
Our co-founder Sarah Haslock-Johnson has over 20 years of experience in the dance industry. She is a distinguished graduate of the Royal Academy of Dance; London, England. Under Sarah’s guidance, numerous students have gained acceptance into year-round programs, summer programs, and companies such as American Ballet Theatre, Alvin Ailey, The Bolshoi Academy, The Royal Ballet and so many more. Our team feels incredibly lucky to work with her to execute her vision.
Kristen Spencer, PRC, joined our team last year to provide guidance on injury prevention and physical therapy. She represents DanceRX at events and trainings to empower teachers and students alike with better methods of holistic rehab and therapy. She is as knowledgeable as she is kind and we love her.
Carissa Wachtler serves as our science lead for DanceRX and Genus3. She’s dedicated her career to the sciences and as a former college athlete, she believes in the power of injury prevention and holistic wellness. As a mom of two, Carissa is always managing multiple large projects, leading many teams, and never letting a ball drop. We’d be lost without her.
Zoe Szczotka is our jack of all trades. After graduating with a degree in Biology from Georgia State, she embraced the opportunity to be involved with a genetics company. She oversees the many logistical aspects of DanceRX, including our events participation. Whatever you throw her way, Zoe will figure it out, with her trademark sense of humor.
Jemila Swaby is a lifelong dancer and has been teaching and choreographing for the last five years. She is currently studying Biology at Georgia State University and serves as a lab technician. Jemlia is constantly on the road for DanceRX, so be sure if you see her at an event, you say hi. Jemlia consistently brings ideas to the table and her kind-hearted nature makes her a joy to work with.
