The Chestnut Family Foundation Awards MTB Atlanta $1.26 Million for New Trails in North Georgia and Metro Atlanta
MTB Atlanta to utilize the award to construct 25 miles of new trails at four different shovel ready sites across North Georgia.
(Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia, November 21, 2025) — The Chestnut Family Foundation has awarded the Southern Off Road Bicycle Association, Atlanta Chapter (MTB Atlanta) $1,259,774.00 for the construction of 25 new miles of trails focused on activating youth cycling and regional tourism in North Georgia. Four sites across North Georgia will benefit from the award.
This grant is the second gift awarded to from the Chestnut Family Foundation following their 2022 grant which built 24 miles of new trails in eight different parks in Metro Atlanta and Georgia’s first Velosolutions asphalt pump track at Allatoona Creek Park.
“We are immeasurably grateful to the Chestnut Family Foundation for once again making an unprecedented contribution for new trail construction and mountain biking on our public lands in Georgia,” said Brett Davidson, Executive Director of MTB Atlanta. “This grant will add capacity for youth cycling and tourism across our region and will benefit mountain bikers, hikers and trail runners for generations to come.”
The Chestnut Family Foundation Award will fund MTB Atlanta’s professional trail building program who will manage the projects and construct the new trails in Troup, Murray, Gilmer, and Coweta Counties.
