Me….I had mitral valve stenosis and regurgitation. It was moderate to severe. I am 4 weeks post op of a robotic mechanical mitral valve replacement. I started cardiac rehabilitation yesterday which I am optimistic about. I have my days. Sometimes I feel great. Other days I’m in bed almost all day then I have a burst of energy. I have other minimal health issues and I am on about 15 different medications. This valve makes a clicking sound that I have to hear for the rest of my life. It can be heard by others without stethoscope. Sounds like a watch ticking. It’s pretty weird yet cool but it is proof I’m alive and God is an amazing God. 🙏🏾
I waited two years from my diagnosis before having the surgery. I felt as if I needed to be lead by God for the right surgeon. Let me tell you, the attention, education, personnel, etc was short of amazing. I never wanted to work in a hospital before but now I want to work for Emory. Not only because of the ability to help people but for who they are as a hospital. Thank up Dr. Halkos and team and most importantly, thank you God. 🙏🏾
