HeyWaisted Warriors! Are you ready to start walking or running more this Fall? Light or full-blast cardio is an incredible way to stay active and enjoy the beauty outside the gym. This morning, I did a live sharing some valuable tips on how to walk safely and remain alert during your walks, along with some essential stretching exercises to keep your body ready, but of course, it didn't load🤦🏾♀️. So here's a few tips:
️⃣ Prioritize Pre-Walk Stretching: Stretching is crucial before any physical activity.
️⃣ . Be Mindful of Your Surroundings. Avoid distractions like excessive phone use, as it can compromise your safety.
️⃣ . Choose Well-Lit and Familiar Routes: Opt for well-lit paths or streets with sidewalks whenever possible.
️⃣ . Walk Against Traffic: When walking on roads without sidewalks, always walk facing traffic.
️⃣ . Bring a Walking Buddy WHENEVER you can!
️⃣ . Dress Appropriately: Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and footwear for walking. Opt for reflective or bright-colored clothing when walking during low-light conditions to enhance your visibility to drivers.
️⃣ . Stay Hydrated: Proper hydration is crucial for maintaining optimal performance and preventing dehydration. Sip water regularly to replenish your body and keep yourself energized.
️⃣ . Maintain Proper Posture: Walk tall and engage your core muscles while walking.
️⃣ . Increase Your Visibility: If you're walking during low-light conditions or at night, wear reflective gear or a flashlight to ensure you're visible to drivers. This simple step can significantly enhance your safety while walking in your neighborhood.
