👂 In case you haven’t hear, body liberation is here to stay! As a growing movement for body autonomy, acceptance, and social justice - here are a few things we must correct in how we THINK about body liberation:

1️⃣ Body liberation =/= anti-fitness! The body liberation stands by the fact that you cannot assume a person’s health or abilities based on their appearance nor do they owe you health.

2️⃣ Unlike body positivity, body liberation actively works toward addressing marginalized communities. it is intersectional and for everyone!

3️⃣ Body liberation isn’t going anymore. Although there may be times where is it talked about more than others, it is not another trend that will disappear overtime.

What are some other common misconceptions you might have heard about body liberation? Drop them in the comments below! 👇

📣 PSA: You don’t owe anyone health! 📣

⚡️Your body is yours and it's nobody's business but your own.

⚡️You are free to exist in your own skin in whatever way feels right to you.

⚡️Don't let anyone else's standards or expectations dictate how you choose to live in your body.

This is not a permission slip to engage in unhealthy behaviors but rather a reminder that all bodies are worthy and deserve to exist as they are. As a person, you have the power of autonomy! 🙌

Double tap if you agree! 💖

Body liberation is much more than accepting all bodies as they are ❤️

✅It is about recognizing and dismantling the systems of oppression that contribute to body shaming and discrimination.

✅It is about creating a world where all bodies are respected and valued, regardless of size, shape, ability, or any other factor.

✅It involves advocating for and supporting policies and practices that promote body autonomy, diversity, and inclusivity.

Here’s a reminder that what you eat says NOTHING about you! 🙅‍♀️

Eating a salad 🥗 doesn’t mean someone is on a diet, morally better, has more self-discipline, etc.

On the same note, eating a cookie 🍪 doesn’t mean someone is “bad”, ignoring health, or any of that sorts!

Food choices are made based on a variety of reasons and none of them help to dictate what kind of person you are or what your intentions are.

👉Some examples of why people may choose they food they do could be culture, accessibility, affordability, personal preference, and more.

If you find yourself labeling foods as good or bad, healthy or unhealthy - identify where these beliefs may come from and challenge them. ✍️

Are these beliefs fact or fueled by fear? 🔎

💖 Healing your relationship with your body doesn’t mean having a positive body image 24/7!

It’s okay to exist in the middle for as long as often as you need. In the middle is where you will find body neutrality and body acceptance.

Body acceptance is the concept of accepting your body without being completely satisfied with all aspects of it.

👉 To practice body acceptance, try using some of these affirmations when you feel negative body thoughts creep in.

Instead of letting these thoughts spiral, using body acceptance affirmations can help you be mindful and appreciative of where are currently are in your body image recovery! 🌻
