Some of you may know that I've built my counseling career on a therapeutic approach called Rapid Resolution Therapy. I love RRT. When it's a good fit, it works quickly, gently, and effectively to heal trauma (and other things). I love the work I've been able to do, and the difference I've been able to make for my clients using this modality. I do a lot of work with survivors of sexual trauma.

Unfortunately, I'm not posting to tell you how great RRT is.

I've just helped file a sexual misconduct complaint against the founder of RRT, Jon Connelly, to his licensing board in Florida. He was my teacher and mentor, and someone I considered a friend.

I've spoken to multiple women and have heard many credible allegations of sexual misconduct ranging from sexual harassment, to non-consensual sexual actions done to women when they are in trance states, and other sexual misconduct with clients and with other women he has power or authority over, some of which could count as felony misconduct. I now believe he has been preying on women for years, that he is continuing to do so currently, and that he is dangerous. I'd like to get the word out to protect other women. So anyway, if you'd like a concrete way to support survivors of sexual violence, you are welcome to sign this petition, and feel free to share it with others.

Purpose of Petition The purpose of this petition is to inform Jon Connelly, his staff, leadership, officers, board members, and other Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT) community members that we, the undersigned, are no longer willing to stay silent regarding ethical and sexual misconduct of Jon Connell...

By Bessel van der Kolk - My hope for the field of trauma treatment is that we learn how to help people bring their imaginations more fully to bear on their possibilities. More recently, we’ve been exploring the capacity to rewire brains that are stuck in freeze and terror and develop a sense of se...

Going to Momocon? Take This is a great organization that offers quiet rooms to get away during the convention. The rooms are staffed by mental health clinicians, who can provide mental health information and resources if needed. It’s open for anyone who needs to get some quiet, and you don’t have to interact with anyone unless you’d like to.

To any MomoCon attendees: Take This has an AFK room at the con all weekend. It's a quiet room staffed by clinicians (our own Karen Corry being one of them) and volunteers to allow you a place to get away from the hectic, chaos that is a con. It's great for anyone who struggles with anxiety, social anxiety, sensory processing, etc. and gives your brain a place to take a break. It also has information about mental health resources and how to find a therapist.

How are you spending your holiday weekend?

We're still celebrating with a focus on . This image speaks volumes on the layers of maternal mental health. We need providers, community members, advocates, birth workers, doulas, midwives, family members, spouses, partners, mental health providers, and most importantly equitable health and social policies for our Black Mamas to thrive physically and emotionally before, during & after pregnancy.

Birth trauma is more common than people realize. It can happen even with births that appear to be routine and uneventful, if the mother didn't feel safe, respected, and supported. Trauma isn't a sign of weakness—it's a treatable injury, and help is available!

The sickness and loss I experienced with my last pregnancy came flooding back in waves of anxiety, panic and fear

I'm so grateful to Elizabeth Smart for sharing her story. Her peace, strength, and joy are a powerful illustration of the fact that trauma survivors can heal and thrive.

“When PTSD is discussed,” Dr. Kaysen explained, “It’s often presented as something that is a permanent state of being, rather than as a response to an injury that can be alleviated, and potentially cured using the right treatments.”

“For trauma survivors and their loved ones, you are not alone. Healing from trauma is not only possible, it’s probable with effective intervention.”

For those trauma survivors who are not yet ready to come in for formal mental health treatment, there are free, research-based resources that are readily available to anyone with access to a computer.
