May 2026 begin not with pressure, but with kindness.
The arrival of the New Year offers an opportunity to reflect on where we’ve been and to face forward to what lies ahead.
I’m not particularly drawn to pushing ourselves to create lists of New Year’s resolutions, because more often than not, we struggle to fulfill them. The pressure and the inevitable rebellion that follows—can deepen feelings of failure and disappointment in ourselves.
I find it far more meaningful to look back and acknowledge where we’ve grown, and where we may still feel stuck. It can be healing to recognize how we’ve made it through challenges, to honor the places where we showed up for ourselves and for those we love—and also to compassionately acknowledge the ways we couldn’t.
Looking forward, perhaps we can set intentions that restore and deepen our connection to our inner life. Maybe we pause and listen more closely when our inner and outer voices don’t align. Perhaps we commit to cultivating curiosity and self-respect. Perhaps we lean toward honoring the wisdom of our bodies and the uniqueness of our inner lives. And perhaps we continue learning what makes us who we are, moving forward with greater ownership and responsibility for our lives.
May this year meet you with kindness.
May you move at the pace of your own becoming.
May you listen deeply to the wisdom within you and trust what you hear.
May you honor your body, your limits, and your longings with tenderness.
And may you remember that your life is worthy of care, presence, and devotion.
