Nonscale victories are my favorite ways of tracking progress and this one right here took me all summer, but I finally hit it (with 7 seconds to spare hahaha)

No matter what you've gone through or where you are in your journey, never stop trying.

- The power of choosing your reaction -
•
For the last 2 years I have put a ton of effort into getting certified...I took the course, read all the books, dotted all the i's, crossed all the t's and you know what?
•
I failed the practical! Talk about disappointment!
•
It is situations like these where we have the power to decide how we will react.
•
It doesn't mean we ignore the feels associated with the event, it just means we take the time to acknowledge, accept, and overcome the emotions of the moment...and then use that to build a new strategy
•
I may have missed a few boxes on the checklist, but I gained an entire toolbox of skills and am better prepared for next time

Tofu + Veggie Pho
•
While vegan soups are not considered healthier than animal-based soups during to the sodium contain in the broth, it still helps the environment everytime you skip the beef.
•
This pho was incredibly satisfying for a chilly evening and I highly recommend checking this place out ;)

☆ Move beyond the fear of judgement ☆
•
Something that has been a big part of my personal journey includes the fear of everyone judging me.
•
Then I listened to the Savvy Psychologist podcast and had a much needed moment of clarity:
•
It feels like 'everybody' is judging me and throwing shade, but in reality only certain people do and it is on me that I allow them to become bigger in my mind than they actually are.
•
After I named WHO I was afraid of, suddenly it didn't seem so scary and I was able to do that thing anyway....and you know what happened? Nothing, because 'everybody' doesn't really care (they are busy worrying about the same thing). ;)

◇ Self-Acceptance ◇
•
Ever get lost in the chaos of it all that you focus only on what isn't going right, but forget to count everything that is?
•
Yeah, me too.
•
It is so easy to judge ourselves for everything that we screwed up versus celebrating what we've managed to overcome
•
"I gained weight after having a baby" vs "I had a baby!" Or "I only ate at home 4 days this week instead of 6" vs "I decided to catch up with my friends this week, but I find myself being more mindful of my choices"
•
There is power in meeting ourselves where we are and doing it without judgement. Every step forward is a step towards improving our lives and taking the initiative to improve who we want to be.

☆ Living with Intention ☆
•
What does that even mean? In the simplest form, it means doing something just to do something.
•
Huh? Was my first reaction when I read it, but then the light bulb went off.
•
An example of walking with intention means that you go for a walk with the only purpose being that you get out and walk. No agenda. No higher purpose. Just walk.
•
The result of doing this for 30 mins every day leads to potential , , and (in some cases) lowering your A1C, but that isn't the focus of the present moment. This is just taking a moment to be fully present in the moment and be with yourself intentionally.
•
What is your moment of intention for the day?

Food is closely linked to health, yet federal nutrition research is underfunded, even as the costs of diet-related diseases are skyrocketing. Does Washington hold the key to solving the obesity crisis?
