Self- Care and Mental Health Reminder:
These are tense times and there is a lot of tension in the air. The body, nervous system, organs, and emotions take on this tension even during times when the thinking seems in control and focused. Thinking is most focused in fight or flight mode.
Here are 2 easily applied neuroscience verified and time-tested proven treatments
1. MOVE and SHAKE. Dance! Not ballet. PRIMAL. Stomp the feet. Shake the limbs, torso, joints. Connect with rhythm, flowing, and changing. Hum. Chant. Guttural howls. LET IT GO! MOVE IT OUT! SHAKE IT LOOSE.
Like leaves on the tree or a duck shaking out its feathers. In connecting with rhythm, we are together in deep connection with all nature at the core.
WE ARE TOGETHER! Doesn't matter what faith or creed. Movement and Music were the first religion and is in all. Do it how it makes sense to you, yet don't hold back. LET IT GO as an offering
2. SELF EMBRACE- It may sound silly at first yet
(a) Give yourself a hug, and
(b) Say outloud: "You are okay. You will get through this. You are safe, alive, and loved".
(c) Repeat with any part of the body that has tension. Apply the hands with moderate tender pressure and say the assurance affirmation, "You are okay. You will get through this. You are safe, alive, and loved"
