Celebrating the Inaugural John Lewis Legacy Scholarship Recipients!
On October 22, the Georgia School of Orthodontics proudly hosted a luncheon honoring the 2025 John Lewis Legacy Scholarship recipients: Dr. Dominique R. Douglas, Dr. Anya L. Grandison, Dr. Alyse Pearson-Bryant, and Dr. Nikkisha Suber.
The John Lewis Legacy Scholarship Luncheon brought together GSO faculty and staff, board members of the John and Lillian Miles Lewis Foundation, and distinguished guests.
Detria Everson, CEO of the Foundation, and GSO President Dr. Randy Kluender delivered inspiring speeches celebrating the recipients and reaffirming the shared commitment to advancing education, leadership, and service through the John Lewis Legacy Scholarship Program, an $8.5 million initiative developed in partnership with the Foundation.
This program will provide several three-year scholarships each year over 12 years, beginning August 2025. All of the residents at GSO will learn about Congressman Lewis’s life and legacy of leadership, equality, and service.

The observance is in part a celebration of healthy, beautiful smiles and the benefits of orthodontic treatment – but also, an opportunity to focus on the importance of good oral health, especially for orthodontic patients and those who are interested in treatment. We will be sharing orthodontic fun facts and oral health tips all month long!

The Class of 2028 has just wrapped up Week 4 of their 7-week Introduction to Orthodontics course! So far, they’ve participated in dynamic lectures led by GSO’s expert orthodontic faculty—including hands-on wire bending—and are preparing to begin clinical shadowing next week. This foundational course lays the groundwork for their journey to becoming the next generation of orthodontists.

Founded in 1931, AADEJ brings together professionals, publications, and organizations dedicated to advancing communication in dentistry and upholding the highest standards of responsible and ethical dental journalism.
