Regular mammograms can help identify signs of cancer before symptoms appear and can catch cancer earlier for better outcomes. If you’re at average risk of developing breast cancer, you should start annual mammograms at age 40. If you have a family history of breast cancer or other risk factors, your care team may recommend starting earlier and will help you create a screening plan.
