Forgot to update till now. Andrew will be going in on may 6th for his upper distraction. He went for his pre OP today and he is at 103 lbs.

Hey guys! I know its been a minute since I posted. Andrew is up to 99lbs. His breathing is so much better as well. He went to his surgeon today and they are comfortable with his weight and we are moving forward with the distractions. They are doing it in phases. The first phase will be his upper jaw and cheekbones. Once that heals they will do the lower jaw distraction. The goal is to get him breathing without the need to have a trach. Once he heals he will get the trach out. I am so proud of how far this kid has come. He will be 18 in two months also. So hard to believe. I will update everyone tomorrow with the date for his first distraction.

Andrew is doing well. He is off the monitors during the day! He is eating a regular diet! We get to go off the unit and downstairs! No more need for speech therapy and physical therapy! But the best news is he has gained two lbs! God is amazing!

So no more pic line, no more feeding tube, and we went down to the library and outside as well! Progressing!

They are giving Andrew a speaking valve today for his trach so he can talk better. So excited for him. Now if we can just get him to where he can eat.

Well today they are doing Andrews first Trach change. He will be off the ventilator and should be able to eat normally and maybe even get up and walk around for a minute. He is so ready to be out of his bed for a few. Lol. He has done well on the feeding tube but he is ready to eat normal food. I don't blame him. Lol

Andrew had his trach put in last night at about 5:30 pm. They are keeping him sedated for 72 hours. They put in a feeding tube and started him on feeds at about 6 this evening. He wakes up off and on and blows me kisses and used my phone last night to type thank you mom. I sang to him this evening. He is back sleeping again. This young man right here has gone through more than most people in their entire life ans he is only 17. He is a junior in high school and is passing all of classes. I am so amazed and I am in such awe of the person my son has and is becoming. I love you drew!

So we will know more tomorrow or Monday on when they will be scheduling Andrew for his trach to be put in. Please continue to pray for us.
