Why I chose and still choose clean beauty
I discovered Beautycounter and the notion of clean beauty from a dear college friend who educated me on the lack of regulations over the personal care industry in the United States. It was something I had never thought about or had heard of -- I didnβt know what I didnβt know. I didnβt know that the Unites States hadnβt passed any legislation affecting the industry since 1938. I didnβt know that companies could make false claims on their products about product ingredients and not face any consequences. I didnβt know that the FDA couldnβt recall products that were found to be unsafe. I simply had no clue of how dirty the industry was.
After reflecting over my journey of infertility and the emergency surgery I had to be rushed into to keep from hemorraging to death, I quickly started paying attention and decided to join the Beautycounter movement. No one should ever have to experience what I experienced and countless other women who struggle with infertility. Nor should children (and adults) have to deal with allergies, eczema and cancer at the rate that they do. This issue is real and one that can be addressed with education and advocacy. We all deserve better!
