GLP-1 Myths vs. Facts
There’s a lot of conversation happening around GLP-1 medications, and it’s easy to come across mixed messages. A few clarifications can help.
Myth: GLP-1 medications are only used for diabetes.
Fact: Some GLP-1 medications are FDA-approved for weight management and may be considered for certain patients, depending on individual health history and medical evaluation.
Myth: Starting a GLP-1 means you’ll need to take it forever.
Fact: Treatment plans vary. For some patients, GLP-1s may be used as part of a broader, long-term approach that can include adjustments or transitions over time, under medical supervision.
GLP-1 medications aren’t right for everyone, and they’re not meant to work in isolation. When used, they should be part of a carefully monitored plan that includes medical oversight, nutrition guidance, and ongoing evaluation.
Reliable information and individualized care matter more than assumptions.
