Leilani had the honor of training with the Baldwin Youth Services today. We focused on how understanding our nervous system, caring for our bodies, and staying connected to purpose can help prevent burnout. Supporting the well-being of helpers allows them to continue showing up in alignment with God’s purpose, with resilience and compassion.

UNPOPULAR OPINION: Sometimes the healed version of you is meaner — but not because you became cruel. It’s because healing changes your tolerances, your capacity for chaos, and your willingness to abandon yourself for the comfort of others.

The old you apologized just to keep the peace.
The healed you lets the silence sit and forces accountability.

The old you overexplained yourself, trying to be understood.
The healed you realizes someone committed to misunderstanding you never lacked clarity — they lacked honesty.

The old you accepted the bare minimum with gratitude.
The healed you sees bare minimum as an insult, not an effort.

Healing often looks like distance, fewer replies, shorter sentences, cancelled plans, or a version of you that no longer entertains conversations that drain your spirit. People who benefited from your silence, your softness, your lack of boundaries will call it “mean.” They will insist you’ve changed — and they’re right.

You did change.

You outgrew the version of yourself that tolerated what hurt you.

Sometimes healing makes you quieter, firmer, and uninterested in proving your worth. Sometimes healing looks like walking away without explanation — not to be rude, but because you finally understand that peace is not a discussion; it is a decision.

❄️ December Mindful Moments with Jacqueline Russell, M.S. ❄️

The holidays bring joy — and sometimes a whole lot of pressure. Busy schedules, family expectations, and financial stress can leave us feeling overwhelmed. This month, we’re focusing on what’s within our control as a simple way to protect our peace and support our mental well-being.

✨ Your words
✨ Your tone
✨ Your reactions

Some things are outside our control — and that’s okay. Shifting our energy toward what we can manage helps reduce stress and restore calm during this busy season.

Remember: small moments of intention can make a big difference. You deserve support this holiday season. 💙

Healthy Minds lead to Healthy Lives

My name is Leilani Mason and I am an individual and family therapist located in Atmore Alabama. I am licensed in Al # 1368-3629C and Florida # SW11535. I have been blessed with the ability to help people find solutions to their problems. I specialize in working with teenagers and adults struggling with self- esteem issues, depression, anxiety, loss of hope, communication, anger management, phase of life issues and grief & loss.

I am also a trained Gottman Therapist specializing in helping couples apply clinically proven methods to manage painful conflict and restore friendship, romance and passion to their relationship. Scientifically proven methods help couples learn healthier ways to manage conflict, communicate, express feelings, find compromise and build a rich and rewarding friendship that fuels passion and romance.

I love working with couples and individuals. I work best with people who desire real progress and evolution in their lives and relationships. I am a solution focused therapist meaning I believe that we all possess strengths and resources that can be used to attain personal growth and overcome life's challenges. My job is not to judge but to build a level of trust, provide support, insight, and encourage my clients to feel safe sharing their concerns while helping them to find a solution to their problems. Just looking into counseling demonstrates a desire for change and is the first step towards living the life you were meant to live.
