Five-card spread: Php444 I read for family, friends, and co-workers for practice, since early on I thought my biases would prevent me from reading for myself reliably. When I was still starting out, my approach towards reading for other people involved letting them shuffle the cards as they focus on their question. I believed that this way, the cards would be infused with their energy and the reading would be truly for them. I then interpreted the cards after laying them out in a spread, without asking the querents any information - including the question they thought about. Surprisingly, even with this blind method I was able to provide readings that resonated with people (they claim to understand what the interpretations referred to), although it often didn't make any sense to me given the lack of context. My practice with Tarot cards was sporadic, only reaching for them whenever I felt like it and only offering readings to those I know. Eventually I received my first Oracle deck, which I began to frequently use in 2018 for pick-a-card posts in an old page (Stones of the Hearth). But it wasn't until 2020 that I started offering readings to strangers online to improve my practice. This remote method prompted me to actually require querents to send in their questions so I can focus on them as I shuffled the cards. As I acquired more Oracle decks and used them more often in readings, I noticed that they were easier to "read" than Tarot cards. Intuitive hits were happening more often, and I didn't feel as constrained to the interpretations as I personally felt with Tarot. Hence, Oracle cards became my preferred medium for divination, although I still occasionally use the Tarot and have recently delved into the Kipper divination system. Through Oracle cards, I learned that I am an intuitive card reader, and that my methods are more aligned towards helping people look inward for finding the answers to their concerns. ✨

Suncatchers are something I've been interested in lately. The way the facets on the beads refract the sunlight and make them sparkle just makes it look so magical.

I used to be such a bead snob - preferring to use only gemstone beads in my work. But FACETED gemstone beads are pricey; they're best reserved for creating jewelry. It is more economical to use quality glass beads for decorative pieces such as suncatchers.

Anyway, that's all - just sharing what I've been up to. ☺️

I just wanted to share.

Back in 2023, I was inspired to create an oracle deck, mostly for personal use. I had been using oracle cards for a couple of years by then, and I was constantly on the hunt for new decks to purchase. But since I'm picky with the art style and theme of the deck (I don't want it to be overly positive or "woo-woo"), I only have a few in my collection.

The deck I DID want to get was independently published and too expensive (for me, personally, since I set a budget on how much I'm willing to spend on a single deck), so I thought, "Why not MAKE one?" So I did. I looked up reference photos, downloaded free assets on a drawing app, and drew almost everyday for a month or so.

I thought up of words that can serve as practical advice to the querent on what they ought to do regarding a situation, and drew the corresponding image that best represented that word. I wanted the cards to be intuitively read, because that's how I interpret the cards during readings.

I designed the card back, the frame - everything. And when I was done, I printed the images on board paper, used cold laminate to protect the ink, and painstakingly cut them to size. It was tedious, but rewarding. I was proud of it. I even used my DIY deck in practice readings. They worked! ☺️

But this year, I was curious on how they would look like if they were printed by an ACTUAL printing company. So I made a few "edits" to some cards - the "Ground" card was particularly redrawn since I wasn't happy with how it initially turned out. I drew two more images ("Nourish" and "Flow") to make them a deck of 34 cards. I didn't want to push myself too much by making it a 40-card deck. 😭

I added a background gradient so it's not a boring white, and made them the standard oracle card size. Then I had one copy of the deck printed.

AND IT WAS WORTH IT. I am GLAD with how it turn out. I have my own, exclusive deck, haha! I am looking forward to using them in future readings! ✨

What is the real purpose of Mercury Retrograde?

People often treat it like a cosmic scapegoat for everything going wrong.

🛑 It is a signal to slow down, not give up. 🛑

Mercury Retrograde is technically an optical illusion where the planet looks like it is moving backward because Earth passes it. This happens because Earth moves faster than Mercury around the Sun, similar to how a slower car looks like it is moving back when you pass it on the highway. While it looks real to our eyes, astronomers have known for centuries that the planet does not actually stop or change direction.

Contrary to the belief propagated by “pop" astrology, Mercury Retrograde isn't a scary, “cursed" period. It was viewed by traditional astrologg as a specific time to "review" and "reassess" your plans. It was meant to be a helpful signal to slow down and check your work; it is not a cause of random chaos.

Our tendency to attribute setbacks to planetary movements can be explained by psychology: that blaming the stars for our errors is often easier than admitting we messed up. When we solely blame the planet for a bad choice, we miss the actual lesson that the "Retrograde" season is trying to teach us about being careful.

What is the Lunar New Year actually about?
Many think it is only celebrated in China (Filipinos call it “Chinese New Year"), but it is observed by many cultures across Asia.

🧹 It is about sweeping away bad luck to welcome good fortune. 🧹

Lunar New Year marks the beginning of a year based on the cycles of the moon. It usually falls between late January and mid-February.

Historically, this festival started in ancient China, but it is also celebrated widely across Asia. For example, in Vietnam, it is known as Tet, and in Korea, it is called Seollal.

While each culture has its own special foods and games, they all focus on family reunions. Before the celebration begins, families traditionally clean their houses from top to bottom to sweep away any bad luck from the previous year.

In the Philippines, the Filipino-Chinese communities would set off fireworks in celebration of the New Year, believing that the noise from the explosion would drive away bad luck and evil spirits. Elders would also give away red envelopes filled with money (called Ang Pao) to bring prosperity and good luck to the recipient.

Make use of this period to mentally "sweep" your own mind of negative thoughts. It is a practical chance to reset your goals if January did not go as planned. Focus on reconnecting with family or community to build a stronger support system for the months ahead.

I have been seeing people on social media (specially Threads) abuzz with the Saturn in Aries transit.

Curious since I'm no astrologer, I decided to Google what it's about. My Saturn opposes my natal Sun (but it's not in Aries), so this planet is something I'm particularly interested in.
