There is no reason for the homebirth rate to be less than 2% in the U.S. Homebirth is a SAFE and VALID option for MOST women but they aren’t being told this. They are being told that the hospital is the safest place to give birth but that’s not exactly true for all women.

Let’s start the conversations, let’s open up more minds, let’s normalize the option to birth at home! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

As a doula/birth assistant, one thing I’ve learned from working with many of the local homebirth midwives is that everyone is soo different, from the moms and what kind of birth they are wanting to the midwives and how they practice! It is soo important to make sure that the midwife you choose is the best fit for you and the birth that you desire! So the only way I feel comfortable giving out recommendations is by connecting with the mom and talking to her about what she is looking for and then after having an understanding with her I will give a personalized recommendation of who I believe would be the best fit 🤍

When a pregnancy care center closes, the ripple effects are real. Families are left scrambling, plans shift overnight, and the sense of safety and continuity they worked so hard to build can feel shaken.

Maitri Midwifery was built with intention and free will at its core, not convenience, not compliance. Because of that, we are able to step in when it matters most.

We will be accepting late transfers for families impacted by the recent birth center closure. If your plans have changed and you are looking for care that still honors physiologic birth, autonomy, and continuity, you are not out of options.

You cannot have a physiologic birth if you only have mainstream birth education such as what we are taught in public school, what we see in movies or what we learned from a hospital birth class. The teachings from these are for medicalized births and not physiologic birth. If you truly are wanting a different birth experience you have to first unlearn everything we’ve been taught about birth and then re-learn birth as a physiological process not a medicalized one.
