Most people think a heart attack ends when the stent goes in.
But every nurse knows the truth… the real recovery starts after discharge.
We see patients who are “medically stable” but emotionally spiraling:
• anxiety
• sleep that never restores
• chest tightness not caused by ischemia
• fear they can’t explain
• resistance to following medical advice
• families confused because “he looks fine, right?”
This isn’t noncompliance.
🤔This is the nervous system still in survival mode.
And this is the part of care we were never taught how to support —
but it matters just as much as the stent, the meds, and the follow-up visits.
This is Systemic Recovery by
tending to the physiological, emotional, cognitive, and relational dysregulation that follows a cardiac event.
It’s not alternative. It’s Physiological Coherence ❤️🩹
It’s completing the healing the body already started.
You can change a patient’s entire trajectory by understanding this.
Patients:
You don’t have to do this recovery alone.
There is a way to feel regulated, grounded, and connected again.
If you want to learn how to bring this into your practice —or if you’re a patient wanting support —
I guide both nurses and families through this process. 💜
DM me “HEAL” and I’ll walk you through your next steps.
