Lavender Birth Support

Lavender Birth Support I provide postpartum doula services as well as occasional childcare. I am a certified Labor Doula. A doula provides physical, emotional and educational support.

Pregnancy, birth and the amazing and phenomenal things a womxn or birthing person’s body does during and to prepare for a birth is fascinating to me. I realized this passion around 6 2010, but didn't know about doulas. Since then, my eyes have obviously been opened and I am excited to share this journey with you all. A doula is someone who is trained to assist another woman during childbirth and even postpartum. A doula helps the client make informed decisions. We are not midwives and we do not perform clinical tasks. Please feel free to inquire if you are interested in a labor doula for your birth or know someone who is! I would be happy to answer any questions you may have, as well as set up a meeting to see if we are the right fit for each other.

🌊The benefits of water birth 🌊
Water birth during the first stages of childbirth — while the cervix dilates and contractions pick up in frequency and intensity, before pushing baby out — may:

🌸Decrease labor pain or your need for anesthesia
🌸Decrease the duration of labor
🌸Give you a greater sense of control
🌸Conserve your energy
🌸Reduce perineal trauma
🌸Reduce the likelihood of an episiotomy (though this practice is rarer these days, no matter how or where you deliver)

Hello again, lovely people! I was never very good at keeping up with this Instagram that I made in the early days of my business, however, I have exciting news... I am back and we are going to give it another go!
Birth work. The birth community. Labor. Pregnancy. Postpartum. Village. I am so ecstatic, my cup over flowing, to have several new Moms to support while they bring their baby earthside. I was forced to take a long pause on doula-ing a while ago and the moment I decided to focus on birth work again, things immediately began to fall back into place. I love this work. I love supporting womxn and birthing people. I love babies, toddlers and kids. I am thrilled to be back to doing what I love, while still holding down the fort at Atlanta Birth Center and serving our birthing people in their prenatal care. I can’t wait to share all of the things I have in store for my clients and future clients; especially all of the beautiful moments to come. With all of this being said, I want to formally share that I am accepting clients through the rest of the year but I have limited availability due to the number of births I plan to accept. I also provide childcare and would love to provide postpartum care for you as well! Please send me a message if you are interested in my services! 💜

A beautiful capture of an en caul birth!!

It is fascinating to see images with a glimpse of how a human is in the womb. This baby is still en caul which means it’s nestled in its amniotic sac of waters. ✨ via with photo credit to JanaBrasil Fotografia

With that being said, I thought it would be fun to tell you why I LOVE being a doula! When I found out about what a Doula is, I thought it sounded like the most rewarding and honorable experience. I have always had an affinity for nurturing, caring and loving people and babies have ALWAYS been my weakness. I’m that woman who would hold a stranger’s baby (if they allowed me) or would be eager to help if they were struggling in a store, looking with anxious eyes, in a sea of people for a warm and understanding face (we know how that can feel). Being a Labor Doula allows me to create this beautiful marriage between all of those things a n d my love for women! Women are •powerful• Our bodies literally give life. The things that our bodies can endure, produce and accomplish are a magnificent miracle! But being a Doula is so much more than just an ‘experience’; it is holding space for someone in likely one of the most life changing moments they’ll have. It is creating comfort when it is scarce, it is building them up, it is being a well of knowledge when they may be unsure, it is encouragement, support and love. Thank you to the Mom’s and families who have allowed me to be your Labor Doula. 💕•
