We pick up our cross and all those that surround us thinking that we can solve it all. As caregivers we want nothing but the best for those around us. We begin to shift our focus completely on others, place our own well-being on a permanent hold and our lives begin to suffer due to no self-care. I’ve always been told that what is in my cup is for me, but what spills over is for everyone else. I catch myself sharing the contents and that which spills over. Through my life I’m learning to leave what’s in the cup for myself and not allow it to become so drained that there’s nothing left but dried residue that can barely be scraped. My prayer is that my book gives you some light on your journey that at times becomes dark from the distractions that keep us distracted." Psalm 119:105 (NIV)

Let’s normalize not confusing someone’s free time with their availability. Just because I have a moment of stillness doesn’t mean I’m obligated to fill it with everyone else’s needs. Boundaries are not selfish...they’re sacred. Protecting my peace and honoring my time allows me to show up fully, with love and intention, when it truly matters.

It’s about recognizing our own flaws, being willing to confront them honestly and making the effort to change. Maturity is learning that blaming others may feel easier in the moment, but true transformation comes from correcting ourselves and choosing accountability over excuses.
