Education is a foundation for opportunity, health, and lifelong wellbeing. While classrooms may look different around the world, the needs of students are shared. Every child deserves access to learning environments that support their mind, body, and heart.

On International Day of Education, we reflect on the role education plays in creating healthier, more equitable futures for students everywhere. Supporting children means strengthening learning and health together. Major gratitude to the CATCH community around the world.

Social media is a major source of nutrition information for youth, often spreading misinformation faster than facts.

The challenge isn’t teaching students to avoid social media; it’s helping them to build skills in discernment and understand the difference between a viral trend and real, evidence-based nutrition.

The earlier students learn and build skills around things like: balanced meals, consistent eating patterns, and critical thinking, the better equipped they are to sort through the noise online and make choices that support their long-term well-being. https://catch.org/how-social-media-shapes-student-nutrition-and-4-myths-every-educator-should-know/

Food is more than something we measure. It is fuel for learning, movement, and growth. Nutrition is something we can coordinate to support and reinforce healthy behaviors in schools. When nutrition messages, experiences, and environments are aligned, students can build confidence and a positive relationship with food.

Access to supportive environments and high-quality health education is foundational to student well-being. When these supports are uneven or unavailable, inequities in health and learning persist.

Creating equitable learning spaces helps students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. These environments strengthen academic success while also supporting physical and emotional health that extends far beyond the classroom.

Supporting the whole child means recognizing that health, education, and opportunity are deeply connected, and that schools play a critical role in aligning them. Inspired by Dr. King's words.

What might look like a simple mess on a student’s desk can actually draw on their limited attentional resources and make it harder for them to stay focused on learning. Research suggests that reducing visual clutter in classroom spaces helps children maintain attention and engage more fully with instruction. Taking just one minute to reset a desk or learning area can reduce visual noise and create a calmer space that supports student focus, confidence, and overall wellbeing. Small changes in the environment can support healthier, more productive learning experiences for every child.

Shortly before the holidays, our team members, including program directors and designers, came together to create a half-day retreat for the CATCH team.

Reflecting our work in developing school health education programs, the day included: inclusive movement activities, time to reflect and connect, and space for creativity and authentic expression - grounded in care for mind, heart, and body.

We’re grateful for this team and the thoughtfulness they bring to everything they create, as we continue supporting schools and communities in the year ahead. Wishing you a healthy and inspired New Year!

Congrats to the eight New York City students who were selected as winners in the third and final round of the CATCH My Breath NYC Schools PSA Contest!

Their PSAs highlight the creativity, insight, and leadership students bring to conversations about va**ng prevention when they’re given the opportunity. A heartfelt thank you to the educators and student support professionals who encouraged participation and supported students throughout the process. Your guidance makes moments like this possible.

A few days ago, we posted a "Pick One' activity to slow down and reconnect this season. We offered a few ideas for mind, heart, and body. The CATCH team recently chose a heart activity to strengthen our connection to one another - volunteering together!

As a remote organization, we have team members across the United States and in other countries. Some of our team members that reside in Texas got together to prepare breakfast and lunch with Austin Baptist Chapel -angel house soup kitchen. Other team members took action in their own local communities.

Afterward, we shared reflections as a team and were deeply reminded that showing up together, even in seemingly small ways, can make a meaningful impact in the communities we’re part of.

Mississippi, New York, and Louisiana K-8 educators are now eligible to receive CATCH's mental wellness education resources and training at no cost along with educators in Texas and California due to expanded philanthropic support.

We are proud to support Tier 1 mental health intervention through CATCH Health Ed Journeys, our comprehensive, age-differentiated K–8 digital health education program. The program includes evidence-based, standards-aligned content focused on mental health literacy, character-building, substance misuse prevention, and more.
