I love substack! I also totally agree with this article. So far, in 35 years, I have never had a childhood sexual abuse survivor say a transgender or q***r person groomed or molested them.
The largest group by far they name are religious white men, "respected" by their community, often church leaders or men in positions of power over the child. People that were charged with caring for these kids - parents, extended family members, ad hoc "family members" live in male partners, "cousins" living with the family etc, trusted family friends, and church leaders. Almost every time.
Sigh.
Sorry to be a bummer but prolly not news.
Let's celebrate Pride and the resiliency of every survivor that made it through and strives to thrive!

- Keep anyone from registering to vote whose name on their Driver's license or passport does not match their original birth certificate - most married women never changed their birth certificate (I didn't) my marriage certificate was proof of why it changed.
- Save would NOT accept my marriage license. I would have the burden of legally changing my name, then changing my birth certificate (both of which cost a fee) if I wanted to register to vote. Most people could not do that.
- Most minorities and those strategically under resourced do not have their birth certificate in hand, so they couldn't register either.
- Wont affect you? Do YOU have your birth certificate in your possession? If not goodbye voting.
- It is a blatant attempt to stop voting by groups they do not agree with!

In 2024, Texas was one of only 13 states that chose not to participate in Summer EBT, a new federal nutrition program that provides a grocery benefit to families with low-income students to make up for the loss of school meals during the summer. In opting out of the program, ***!!!Texas state missed out on an estimated $450 million in food aid to feed 3.75 million kids.!!!

There is a small window of time for Legislature to act to implement Summer EBT in 2025. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) needs direction from the Legislature by March 1 at the latest to move forward with the program for Summer 2025.
Feeding Texas, joined by our network of 20 food banks, and the Texas Food Policy Roundtable, a coalition of more than 80 organizations dedicated to ending hunger, is calling on state lawmakers to act to implement the program before it's too late.
Join us by sending a letter to your state senator and representative urging them to direct HHSC to implement Summer EBT in 2025.
