It’s hard to believe it’s already been a full year since we officially launched Nest!

From the very beginning, this journey has quietly restored our faith in humanity. Our friends and family stepped in with everything from marketing guidance to tax help to website design—truly anything we
needed, someone showed up. And the perinatal community welcomed us with open arms, collaborating with us, hosting us, and generously sharing our story with others. And countless families entrusted us with the care of their little ones.

All of this kindness has reminded us just how powerful community can be.

We’re endlessly appreciative for every person who has become part of Nest’s story. And we’re deeply grateful for each other—building this dream alongside one of your best friends is something truly special.

Here’s to many more years!

We had a wonderful time hosting Parent Education Night at Cantera Montessori School! It was a joy to connect with families and dive into topics like feeding development, solids readiness, and common mealtime challenges for children ages 0–3.

Events like these are such a meaningful way for us to support our community—and help make mealtimes a little smoother (and more enjoyable!) for everyone at the table.

September is NICU Awareness Month — a time to pause and honor the tiniest warriors, the families who fiercely love and advocate for them, and the dedicated medical teams who provide expert, compassionate care every step of the way.

At Nest, we have walked alongside many families through the NICU journey and beyond. Laura has spent much of her career providing neurodevelopmental and feeding therapy in a Level 4 NICU and continues to support babies and families both in the hospital and after discharge. Maggie brings invaluable experience helping families navigate the often-overwhelming transition from hospital to home — a time filled with both hope and uncertainty.

Like having a child in the NICU, feeding challenges are rarely something parents anticipate. The process is often complex, emotional, and layered with unexpected decisions and emotions.

At Nest, we meet families where they are — with empathy, expertise, and a deep understanding of what life looks like both in and after the NICU. We’re here to support you as you work toward feeding and developmental goals that truly matter to your family.

Join us for our Starting Solids 101 workshop at Austin Yoga Lounge on July 9 at 12:00pm!

Staying true to our mission of inclusivity, we’ll explore all approaches to starting solids—purees, baby-led weaning (solids first), and hybrid methods—because when it comes to feeding, one size doesn’t fit all. Our goal is to give you the tools, knowledge, and confidence to choose the approach that works best for you and your family.

This workshop will cover:
- When to know your baby is ready for solids
- The most common feeding methods (including purees, baby-led weaning, and combo approaches)
- Nutrition and allergen considerations and safety tips
- Introducing cups and straws
- How to make mealtimes fun, low-pressure, and developmentally supportive
- Q&A time for your individual questions

Registration link is in our bio. Your $20 registration fee covers your attendance and our Starting Solids resource guide!

As SLPs specializing in infant feeding, we often get asked about our role! While most think of SLPs as helping kids with speech sounds, a large part of the SLP scope includes feeding and swallowing difficulties.

Through our education and training, we bring a comprehensive and holistic approach to feeding, helping us navigate even the most nuanced feeding challenges.

Book a virtual or in-home session with one of our SLPs by visiting our website linked in our bio.
