If you're used to mastering things quickly, breastfeeding will likely be a wake up call. 😳

Yes, learning about breastfeeding before hand is super important, essential really. But mastering the material, won't necessarily mean instant success like you're used to.

You can do everything "right" and still struggle in those first few weeks. The key is having realistic expectations and knowing you don't have to figure it out alone.

Read this week's blog post for my full breakdown of what to actually expect when you're breastfeeding: emily-tavag.themamacoach.com/breastfeeding-reality

🤔 How do you help your partner go from scared to prepared? Education!

Most partners WANT to be supportive and helpful, but feel unsure of what to do or what's most helpful. Sound familiar?

That's where prenatal education comes in - it's not just for the birthing parent! When partners learn what postpartum recovery actually looks like, how to support feeding, and what warning signs to watch for, everything changes.

Instead of asking "What can I do?" they'll already know ways to help. Instead of feeling helpless when you're struggling, they'll feel confident stepping in.

A prepared partner becomes your TEAMMATE in recovery, not just an observer waiting for instructions.

Ready to feel supported AND prepared? Check out my prenatal classes at emily-tavag.themamacoach.com/classes ! 💕

I don't know who needs to hear this, but you can't expect your partner to step up during postpartum if you don't let them. 🫣

You're usually the one who handles everything because that way it's done "right." But postpartum recovery? You literally can't do it all alone. And that's not failure, it's reality.

The key is preparing your partner NOW so they can step up without you micromanaging every detail. When they know what needs to be done, you can actually 💤 rest instead of directing from the couch.

A prepared partner who can truly take charge = the recovery you deserve.

Sometimes the most powerful words you can hear are: "I've been there too, and you WILL get through this." 🌟

If you're feeling overwhelmed 😫 by sleep struggles, feeding challenges, or drowning in conflicting advice, I totally get it - as a mom and a nurse.

I understand that without the right support, that overwhelm just snowballs. You start to question every decision and end up unable to enjoy the everyday moments with your baby.

That's why it's so important to have someone who gets it professionally AND personally. When we work together, we start exactly where you are (no judgment, I promise) and figure out what works for YOUR family. Then I'm right there with you through it all.

The best part? You'll actually start feeling confident in your choices instead of second-guessing everything. Trust me, that changes everything. 💕

Staring at your newborn at 3am with a million questions running through your head? I get it.

You're overwhelmed by love for this tiny baby but also feeling completely clueless about how to care for them. 😳 You're used to excelling at work, being the one with answers, feeling competent. But with your newborn? You feel so unsure and that’s unsettling.

Your mind keeps thinking: Did he eat enough? Why isn't she going back to sleep? Is it normal for them to hiccup so much?! Am I swaddling right?

Here's the thing - everyone actually needs support! Even as a nurse, I had lots of questions with my babies and needed help working through different challenges. Needing extra guidance doesn't make you a "bad" parent or less than, it’s being smart and responsible.

Don't go through this feeling worried and constantly questioning yourself. Reach out and book a free call. I’d love to support you so that everything from feeding to sleep feels manageable instead of overwhelming. 💕

👉 Ever looked in the mirror and thought "I don't know who this person is anymore”? This post is for you.

I've been there too. After my second baby, I felt completely lost. Thoughts kept swirling like “Who even I am?”, “What do I actually care about now?”, “Can I talk to adults anymore?”, and “Am I still funny?!”

I thought I was broken. Turns out, those thoughts and feelings are actually a sign you're in the middle of matrescence - the process of becoming a mother. It's messy, it's hard, and it takes way longer than anyone tells you.

Most importantly, you're not broken. You're becoming the mother, the whole person you're meant to be. 💕

Mandy of We Make Meaning wrote an excellent post on my blog about this transformation process and how hard it can be. Read it here: emily-tavag.themamacoach.com/becoming-a-mother

Can we talk about something that nobody prepared me for? The way becoming a mother completely changes who you are.

Not just "oh I feel a little bit different" but like the "my brain is literally rewiring itself and I don't recognize the person in the mirror" feeling.

When my daughter was about 4 months old, I remember staring at myself and thinking "Who IS this person?" I loved being a mom, I was so grateful for my baby, but I was also grieving parts of my old life and feeling completely lost about how all these pieces fit together now.

Turns out, this experience is SO common and it has a name: matrescence (the developmental process of becoming a mother).

My friend Mandy of We Make Meaning (who's an expert on this stuff) explains it perfectly: you're not losing yourself, you're evolving. Just like adolescence, this is a major life transition that takes TIME. We're talking months or even years, not the 6 weeks everyone seems to expect.

Your brain is doing incredible things - growing areas for empathy, shifting priorities, learning to make decisions with this new little person in mind. No wonder it feels overwhelming!

If you're in this space right now - feeling scattered, forgetful, or like you don't know who you are anymore - please know you're not broken. You're becoming a mother, and that's one of the most profound transformations a human can go through.

If you missed Tuesday's Postpartum Simplified workshop, the replay is available! Comment 'REPLAY' and I'll send you the link. The workshop really reminded me how truly amazing the postpartum body is.

You grow a literal human inside of you. You deliver your baby. And then *bam*, your body kicks into action. It starts healing, making milk, and yes, sending your emotions all over the place. All this while you're bonding with and learning how to care for your new baby. It’s amazing, but it’s also A LOT. 🥵

Your body might (okay, almost definitely) feels different. You're probably sore in places you didn't know possible. And you’re likely trying to make peace with your new "take it slow" pace of life.

Here's what I want you to remember:
🩷 Healing isn't linear. Some days will feel better than others. That's okay.
🩷 Listen to your body. Postpartum recovery can take anywhere from 6 to 18 months. Be patient as your body heals.
🩷 Asking for help or postpartum support isn't weakness, it's wisdom and resourcefulness.
🩷 You don't need to 'bounce back’. You can move forward with grace. Your old self isn't "lost", but you are becoming a different version of yourself. Embrace it!

I'd love to hear, what's one way you're being gentle with yourself today?
