The unanimous 2020 Supreme Court decision paved the way for landmark laws passed in Texas in 2021 and 2025—and TPA continues to fight for additional reforms to support pharmacists and the patients they serve!

🗓️ This week — on Dec. 10 — marks the five-year anniversary of the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in Rutledge v. PCMA, and we’re looking back at what’s happened since.

The ruling affirmed that state laws regulating PBMs are not preempted by ERISA, clearing the way for states to take meaningful action to protect independent pharmacies and the patients they serve.
