Our residents loved handing out candy, sharing smiles, and making memories with visiting trick-or-treaters! Between spooky snacks, themed drinks, a haunted hallway, sensory creepy-crawly station, and plenty of Halloween fun, it was a night full of laughter and community spirit. 🎃👵🧛‍♀️

💜💙 From those currently living with Alzheimer’s to those we carry in our hearts — this journey is one we walk together.

This year, Independence Village of Avon proudly participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Through the generosity and support of our community, we raised over $550 to help fund research, awareness, and care.

Our Executive Chef Dan and Director of Connection Points Erica walked in honor of everyone touched by this disease — past and present.

Each flower we display outside our community carries meaning:
💙 Blue for those living with Alzheimer’s
💜 Purple for those we've lost

These flowers stand as a symbol of our commitment —from the first step to the very last.

From pies to muffins and everything in between, 9 incredible pumpkin creations from residents and staff competed for top honors! After lots of tasting and tough voting, we’re thrilled to crown Tina with her famous pumpkin pie as this year’s Pumpkin Queen! 👑🧁

🎉🕺 We traveled back in time — straight to the totally tubular 80s and 90s! From tie-dye creations to grabbing a "Poloroid" picture and some morning exercise Sweatin’ to the Oldies with Richard Simmons, we partied in true retro style! Plus, a special thank you to Pat Baldwin of the Hendricks County Historical Museum for teaching us more about the history of our town of Avon. Did you know thay Avon only became a town in the 1990s! Who knew?! 💫🌈

A heartfelt thank you to the amazing students from Avon High School with the United in Healthcare club for joining our seniors for a fun-filled sugar cookie decorating activity! Your energy and kindness made the day extra special for our community. We’re excited to welcome them back for a monthly volunteer activity—next up: Bingo Night October 28th! 🎉🎃

From slabs to spooks! 🎃 Our seniors channeled their inner artists in this week’s ceramics activity, crafting whimsical draped ghosts that are equal parts eerie and endearing. Which ghost is your favorite?

🥇 And the winner is... Chef Dan! 🥇
On Wednesday, Chef Dan from Avon went head-to-head with Chef Scott from Fishers East in an exciting Chopped Challenge — all in support of the Alzheimer's Association. After a fierce (and delicious) competition, Chef Dan took home the title of our IV Chopped Champion! 👨‍🍳🏆
Thanks to the incredible efforts of both teams, we raised around $340 for a cause close to many hearts. 💜
🙏 Huge shoutout to Fishers East for hosting the event and to our two brilliant chefs for taking time from their busy schedules to support this mission.
🍽️ Bonus! Chef Dan will be preparing a special dinner at Avon for all donors who contributed $40 or more to the event — stay tuned for details!

When innovation meets celebration, magic happens. 🌟 From virtual reality adventures to glow-in-the-dark crafts and bingo, and our glow-in-the-dark party featuring glowing color changing cocktails and music from DJ Tea-Time, the Glow Forward finale was a shining example of what the future can hold. Cheers to a glowing future!

What a great way to end our Generation Of Innovation Bi-Annual week! Thank you to everyone who made this week-long event possible.

We took full advantage of a beautiful day with a fishing trip to Echo Hollow Park. The accessible dock made it easy for everyone to join in on the fun, and sack lunches made the perfect park picnic after some relaxing fishing. 🐟 🎣
