Competitive motorsports in Kern County has always been a fixture with deep roots dating back to the very early days of both NHRA and NASCAR. Nitro was considered way to dangerous by NHRA when it was first put to use on the drag strip. Famoso was the proving grounds and earned the “Birthplace” of Nitro Racing moniker dating back to 1954. Since then the March Meet has brought the world to our backyard. Innovation is a key to success in NASCAR. From the Mears Gang to the creation of the Truck Series to Bakersfield’s very own Champion Kevin Harvick dominating at the highest level Kern County has hosted both on the asphalt oval and not be forgotten the Legends of the clay oval and the historic Bakersfield Speedway the very best in circle track racing. Motorcycles have a presence also with the World Champions of the world in circle track motorcycle racing. International and National Champions have crafted their skills within minutes of downtown Bakersfield.
With all of that comes the number 1 priority and focus of the Fire Safety Team and all the staff at these world famous locations do their part in ensuring that Safety and customer service work hand in hand.
