Meet Dr. Mark A. Martinez!

We’re kicking off our Political Science Faculty Spotlight series by highlighting one of our department’s longest serving and most dedicated members — Dr. Mark A. Martinez!

Dr. Martinez has been a cornerstone of our Political Science Department since 1994, that’s 31 years of inspiring students, and fostering critical thinking about politics, policy, and power.

As a Professor, Special Assistant to the President, and Director of the Center for Social Justice, Dr. Martinez brings a wealth of experience, passion, and purpose to his work. His research focuses on International Relations, Latin America, and International Political Economy, and he continues to motivate students through his teaching, and advocacy for social justice.

When he’s not in the classroom, you can find him traveling with his wife, golfing, or rooting for the Raiders.

As the California State University, Bakersfield’s Pre-Law Program gears up for this spring’s Legal Information & Support Clinic’s, “Pop-Up Expungement Clinic” we will be holding a Pre-Expungement Clinic on Friday, April 4, 2025, 9:00am-3:30pm, where we’ll help attendees review their court documents and prepare for the main Pop-Up Expungement Clinic on May 9th.

Important: Only those who attend the Pre-Expungement Clinic on April 4th and have their paperwork ready will be served at the Pop-Up Expungement Clinic.
