At Holiday Bluebird Estates, a mother and daughter share something special: One calls the community home, and the other found her professional fit.

Abby, the community's Engage Life Coordinator, brings creativity and heart to every activity she leads. From painting to glass art, Abby creates a space where self-expression matters more than perfection. As she often reminds residents, there’s “no such thing as bad art” – participation is what counts.

Watching Abby in her role is especially meaningful for her mom, Alicia, who has called Bluebird Estates home for more than a year. Alicia beams with pride as she sees her daughter connect with residents, encourage creativity and build genuine relationships. “She’s very good at what she does,” Alicia shares, noting Abby’s natural talent and her ability to work with people of all ages.

For Abby, the best part of her job is simple: the residents – including her mom. She says she learns something from each person every day, and that sense of mutual care is felt throughout the community.

Together, Abby and Alicia embody what makes Bluebird Estates such a wonderful community and the kind of connection that turns neighbors into family.

Yo, Adrian!

Inspired by the City of Brotherly Love, our Taste Philadelphia event featured local favorites like pretzel bites with mustard, Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, crab fries, onion rings and tomato cucumber salad. And to top it all off, we enjoyed a Philadelphia fluff cake and a screening of a cinematic classic, Rocky!

This year, our Taste events are taking us on a tour of the U.S. and Canada. We can't wait to see – and taste – the cuisine from our destination next month!

"I just love working here. Coming into this building – it’s like walking into a place full of family," shares Kim, the Engage Life Coordinator at Holiday Thornton Place. That sense of family is something Kim has nurtured, so much so that her own parents and uncle enjoy visiting the community to set up for local musical acts or join in on outings.

A stay-at-home mom for 26 years, Kim brings her natural talents to the job. "I feel like this is what I was meant to do. I was a pastor’s wife for 17 or 18 years, and I really believe that role prepared me for this one. I had no idea jobs like this even existed, but I’m so glad I found it. I love coming here and connecting with every single resident. They all have something special, and I remember their stories because they matter to me. This job gives me purpose."

Our team is addressing a leak to the fire suppression system in the dining room that occurred overnight. Water service to residents’ apartments has not been impacted, and a technician is on the way. As a precaution, staff are conducting regular safety checks throughout the building. We’ll share another update when we get more information.

Our communities honored the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., reflecting on his message of equality, hope and service.

Holiday Niagara Village made gift bags for a local youth services organization and Holiday Quail Run Estates assembled blessing bags of winter essentials for their local emergency shelter.

We love seeing residents give back in honor of Dr. King!

Color, whimsy and a love of collies shine through resident artist Christine’s work at Holiday Devonshire Estates. She began painting after retiring, taking a senior art class that sparked a passion she’s carried ever since.

Christine gravitates toward bright colors and playful subjects – butterflies, flowers, nature and plenty of collies, including a self-portrait inspired by her beloved dog, Galen. “Bright colors are my favorite,” she shares. “It’s whimsical… We’re always looking for the whimsy in life, right?”

Her art brings personality and joy to her community, and we’re grateful to celebrate the creativity she continues to share. 🎨

Shirley's talent is truly note-worthy! 🎶

"I've been playing the piano since I was a little girl," shares Shirley, a resident at Holiday Hidden Lakes. She used to teach a kids' choir, and now she enjoys playing in the community.

Fellow residents love it when Shirley shares her musical talent before lunch or dinner. When she plays her magical notes, she brightens up the room!

Some of our most popular programs are live music performances by local musicians – especially when familiar faces return to play residents’ favorite hits and get everyone dancing.

At Holiday Quail Run Estates, Dave and Lisa are a crowd favorite and a highly requested duo. During a recent visit, they performed on Lisa’s birthday, and residents couldn’t let the moment pass without turning the tables, surprising her with a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday” to celebrate one of their favorite entertainers.

Feet were tapping, hands were clapping and there was plenty of dancing. We love seeing how music connects with our residents.

Marge has been making cards for 25 years, starting when she was invited to a Stampin’ Up party in the late 1990s. Today, her apartment at Holiday Hidden Lakes includes a dedicated card-making station, where creativity and calm go hand in hand.

“For me, it’s nothing stressful. It’s relaxing," Marge says. "I like paper products, and I like figuring out my different designs.” Some cards take all day to perfect, while others come together in a moment of inspiration.

Last Christmas was the first time she’s had to use store-bought cards since she got started with the hobby, because she sold out of her stock of 45 cards at the community's craft fair. Most recently, she decorated notepads with covers for the community’s resident ambassadors.

We love seeing the creativity of our residents flourish!

Style, confidence and a Sunday tradition. Minnie brings it all together at Holiday Greenwood Terrace.

From wearing hats to church as a young girl to running her own boutique years later, Minnie’s love of fashion has always been about self-expression. “The hat just makes me feel complete,” she says. Compliments are nice, but for Minnie, getting dressed is about feeling like her best self.

Today, she still tops off her Sunday outfit with a hat, just as she always has. Influenced by the elegance she admired growing up and guided by the simple wisdom, treat others the way you would like to be treated, Minnie reminds us that, when it comes to beauty, its what's inside that counts the most.

"My birthday party at Forsyth Court was fantastic," she shares. "Not only did I have my family and friends here to share it with me, but I had all of my fellow residents to share the occasion with me. It was a very special day!"
