Everyone's favorite tripawd is hoping to add some more letters after her name!
Next Thursday we are meeting with an AKC evaluator and she's testing for the higher level Canine Good Citizen certifications. The CGCA, "Community Canine" which is based on general manners outside of the home, and CGCU which is based on manners in urban settings.
Then we're going to go for her Novice Trick Dog title, which just requires 5 "tricks." I don't consider most of them tricks, but they count on the list (follow command with hand signal only, go to your spot, touch (my hand), push ups (following sit and lay command back to back to back), and find it (a treat under a cup).
She's also 6 visits away from the first Therapy Dog title!
I talked with this trainer/evaluator a year ago about helping to train delia for potential Service Dog work. We ended up talking about me doing group pet store classes first, for the basics. and then talking with her if I needed additional help. Because my training skills came back so thoroughly from when I was a teenager I had never reached back out. If there's time after the tests we will spend some time talking about what's next going forward with her training. Just making sure I'm covering bases that need to be covered.
