At our Wellspring Village neighborhood at Brightview Severna Park, our breadmaking class was a beautiful reminder: life doesn't stop with dementia – it evolves, it connects, it finds new ways to flourish.

We watched as our residents shaped more than just bread. They shaped moments of purpose, connection, and pure joy. It was a celebration of ability, presence, and the vibrant life that exists within every person.

At Brightview, we choose to see the person, not the diagnosis. Because every resident has a story still unfolding, abilities still shining, and a heart still eager to share.

This holiday season, we're especially grateful for these moments that remind us what truly matters: connection, warmth, and the gift of being fully present with one another.

: Meet Doug, a Brightview resident and devoted husband. Doug moved to Brightview to be close to his wife, who is in the later stages of Alzheimer’s.

Being here allows him to see her every day and know she’s receiving the care and compassion she deserves. When he’s not visiting with her, you can often find Doug enjoying one of his favorite activities - listening to the community’s musician, Steve, perform! 🎶 His love, loyalty, and gentle spirit inspire everyone around him.
