Last week we celebrated the creativity of Keswick residents at our Resident Art Show. This work reflects curiosity, expression, and the joy of continuing to learn and create at every stage of life.

Through our art program, residents explore ideas, try new approaches, and create meaningful work with the support of experienced teaching artists.

One hundred years ago, in 1926, Black historian Carter G. Woodson founded Negro History Week, a commemoration of “the Black past.”

One hundred years ago, our 142-year-old organization moved 54 residents from downtown Baltimore to a new campus on 40th street. None of them were Black.

Today, in 2026, more than half of the people served by Keswick are Black. Our Keswick Community is incredibly diverse on campus and beyond – extending across race, ethnicity, gender, age, income and more – and we serve all with dignity, respect, and excellence, with high-quality services and support, rooted in greater fulfillment and freedom in aging, for all.

This year, we celebrate 100 years of Black History Month and 100 years of Keswick on this campus. Through a history of segregation, Keswick grew into this place where so many people feel that they belong, improving the experience of aging, together. Thank you for encouraging daily a place that is welcoming to all, a community where we live our core value of Inclusion – and where we talk about it when we fail, so that we learn and grow.
