🌟 Advanced Practice in Action: Growing Clinical Skills & Leadership 🌟

At Johns Hopkins Medicine, we love celebrating the growth and innovation of our Advanced Practice Providers—and the incredible ways they support one another in learning and development. 💙

On March 20, 2026, an introductory ultrasound workshop was held in the Johns Hopkins Hospital Emergency Department for newly onboarding ED APPs and APP students.

This hands-on experience was organized by Jonathan Green, PA-C, a member of our 2024–2025 new graduate APP cohort, with guidance from ED Ultrasound Director Dr. Tiffany Fong.

Jonathan developed a strong interest in point-of-care ultrasound and, with the support and mentorship of leadership, turned that passion into a meaningful learning opportunity for his peers. 👏

This workshop not only helped build clinical ultrasound skills, but also highlighted the impact of APP-led collaboration, leadership, and innovation in improving patient care.

We’re excited to watch Jonathan continue to grow and to see the lasting impact of initiatives like this across our APP community!

đź’™ Supporting Our APPs from Day One đź’™

At Johns Hopkins Medicine, we are committed to setting our Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) up for success—building a strong foundation for confident, high-quality, patient-centered care from the very start.

As part of our Transition to Practice Program, newly onboarding APPs participate in immersive simulation (SIM) lab experiences. These hands-on sessions help strengthen clinical decision-making, teamwork, and real-world readiness in a safe and supportive environment.

We’re excited to share highlights from a recent SIM session led by Jess Peters, DNP, CRNP—Assistant Professor, Track Director for the DNP Adult-Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program, and Acute Care NP at Johns Hopkins. Her leadership helps bridge education and practice for our newest APPs in such a meaningful way.

These experiences are just one of the many ways we invest in our APP community and uphold excellence in patient care across our system. ✨
