I’m a little late but this was an important one to mention! This client from moment we met, was clear and determined. Driven by her faith and research she made decisions all along the way to allow her and her husband to best meet their baby. A few twists and turns - and a beautiful birth, her sweet smiley guy came into her arms! What thankfulness I feel to be able to support families like this every day. Thank you for my lovely gift. There were more snacks, but they’ve since been “removed” 🤣. Thank you K for allowing me to take care of your sweet family! 🩷🩷.

The Womb Room is a local spot where so many families have been able to grow and learn and find community! It’s a space that I’ve been to several times to learn and collaborate with colleagues.
They’ve suffered a devastating fire and are looking for our thoughts, prayers, support and shares.
You can find the link here to donate and also please consider sharing with your groups to help the Womb Room and all its occupants, heal.
Thank you!

On November 10th, a fire broke out in the building that houses The Womb Room, a community space for growing families.

While our studio was thankfully spared from the flames, the third floor suffered heavy damage, and our space experienced significant water damage and a window was broken during the firefighting efforts.

We are deeply grateful that everyone is safe — and that our beloved space still stands — but it will take several months before we can return home. In the meantime, we’re committed to continuing our classes, support groups, and community offerings by providing support virtually and from other temporary studio locations in the area.

We are completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support we’ve received from the community - it’s truly a humbling reminder that what The Womb Room does everyday is a service that is essential to the beautiful city in which we love. We appreciate every text, email, call, and offer for help. While we are working hard to adjust all of our classes into new spaces, we have created this page as a way for those who have been asking “how can I help?” to support The Womb Room through this unexpected transition.

Another great way to eat . Date fruit is gaining popularity as it shows a reduction of time in the early phase of labor and overall a higher satisfaction in the labor process! Starting around 36 weeks, and eating 6 a day! Thoughts??

This weekend started off beautifully welcoming a sweet little one on Halloween day. This Mom intuitively worked to labor, following her bodies prompts and birthing her baby girl on her terms. This resulted in a surprisingly quick labor and birth for this first time Mom and she was so thankful!

This is a question I am asked often. And interestingly enough, it’s usually asked by the labor partner. Which I love because it shows care and concern for their loved one during the unknown labor process. It’s a great question but honestly, the answer is probably not what most expect.
Eat…. What you want.
Eat what sounds good.
Here’s the “extra” part that I know people want to hear from my geeky-education side 😆😉: Labor can often bring a hunger in the beginning. The bodies way of prepping for the marathon of birth. I will generally encourage of good meal of protein and healthy carbs (eat that pasta!) as often it sounds good and sits well. Think of this as fueling your labor!
As labor progresses, that’s when things can change. And of course everyone is different but because nausea and even vomiting can play a big role for many, eating light and digestible foods, while staying hydrated, is often a good choice. Also people usually are just wanting a bite or too of something, vs a meal or large snack. So think:
Cut fruit, fruit leather, cheese cubes, broth or a noodle soup. Dairy can sometimes upset the belly, so take that suggestion with caution.
What would you add (or subtract) to these lists?
