Heard a lot of folks from TikTok are making their way over to IG lately — so I want to extend that welcome over here as well 👋

For those who are new or seeing this for the first time:

My name is Dan Holmes. I’m a U.S. Navy Special Operations veteran who was given 12 months to live back in 2020 after being diagnosed with a rare kidney disease caused by toxic chemical exposure during a rescue operation in the Navy.

Today I run the Enlisted Kidney Foundation, a veteran-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting kidney warriors — especially veterans, first responders, and working families who are navigating kidney disease often without visibility, support, or guidance.

Our mission is simple:
➡ No kidney warrior left behind

Whether you’re a patient, a caregiver, a veteran, or just someone who cares about this mission — we’re building something real here. And if TikTok sent you, welcome to the EKF family.

Drop a “🫡” or let us know where you’re tuning in from

A simple conversation in a bar turned into a life-saving kidney donation for a complete stranger.

That donor was Mark Scotch, creator of The Organ Trail, a nationwide awareness journey highlighting the power of living kidney donation and the stories that change lives.

We sat down with Mark on the Filter Life Podcast to talk about:
✔ how living kidney donation really works
✔ the Voucher Program that protects donors
✔ donor recovery + long-term health
✔ barriers keeping donors from coming forward
✔ why storytelling matters in advocacy
✔ and how one conversation can shift an entire system

This episode hit us so hard that we moved it up in our release schedule — we felt the world needed to hear it now.

🚨 PALM BAY — MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT TONIGHT! 🚨

The Enlisted Kidney Foundation has been invited to tonight’s Palm Bay City Council meeting to make a huge announcement about a first-of-its-kind event coming to our city in 2026.

We’re talking about a collaboration that blends sports, public health, veterans advocacy, and community energy in a way Palm Bay hasn’t seen before.

We’re bringing national talent home.
We’re rallying neighborhoods.
We’re putting Palm Bay on the map.

This event will connect families to kidney disease resources, support our veterans and first responders, and bring awareness to a growing health issue affecting millions of Americans — including many right here in Brevard County.

Because awareness doesn’t always start in a clinic — sometimes it starts in a gym.

Stay tuned — Palm Bay is about to make history. 🏀💚
