Exciting news for holistic, functional, and lifestyle medicine providers! 🚀
The MAHA (Make America Healthy Again) initiative is taking a big step forward with the MAHA ELEVATE model from CMS. This pilot program will fund up to 30 cooperative agreements (totaling ~$100 million over 3 years) to test evidence-based whole-person care approaches—like nutrition, physical activity, stress management, and other functional/lifestyle interventions—for Original Medicare beneficiaries.
These services (often not covered by traditional Medicare) will supplement conventional care, not replace it, and help gather data on costs, quality, and outcomes to potentially expand coverage in the future.
If you’re a private practice, health system, community group, ACO, or similar organization offering these holistic services, this could be a game-changer!
CMS plans to release the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) in early 2026 for the first cohort, with the model launching voluntarily on September 1, 2026.
