Calling all Artists!

Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center is looking for your best grayscale creations for our Winter Quarterly Art Show! Grab your brushes or camera and explore the timeless beauty of "Black & White & Gray."

Theme: "Black, White & Gray" (Representational to Abstract)

Quantity: Max 3 pieces (must be wired/ready to hang).

Cost: Free to enter!

Drop-off: Sunday, Jan 4, 2 to 4 p.m. at the SCHHC Lobby.

Reception: Sunday, Jan 11, 2 to 4 p.m., live music by UnCorked, refreshments, and the Gift Shop will be open!

PUBLIC NOTICE:

The Southern Coos Health District will hold its Regular Monthly Board meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025 to hear the annual audit presentation for fiscal year 2025 from CLA (Clifton Larsen and Allen) Audit Firm and review the monthly financial report and staff reports for operations during the month of November. (Note: the meeting is being held a week earlier this month due to the Christmas holiday.)

There will be an Executive Session Under 192.660(2)(c) to consider matters pertaining to the function of the medical staff of a public hospital licensed pursuant to ORS 441.015 Licensing of facilities and health maintenance organizations. and under ORS 192.660(2)(f) to consider information or records that are exempt from disclosure by law, including written advice from legal counsel.. No decisions are made in Executive Session.

Due to current hospital construction, this meeting is open to the public at Adapt, LLC, 1010 1st Street, Bandon, Oregon, in the 2nd floor conference room. The recorded regular meeting open session will be available to view within 72-hours via the Southern Coos Hospital YouTube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/

Community, Care, and the Holiday Spirit at SCHHC

The holidays are in full swing here at Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center!

While we prioritize providing exceptional care every day, we also know how important it is to connect and celebrate as a team. We’ve been enjoying that holiday spirit — from our recent Giving Tuesday/Employee Giving kick-off to our fun annual Holiday Party! We hope you enjoy seeing these snapshots of our recent activities.

We also understand that the holidays can bring a mix of emotions. Whether you’re enjoying social overload or finding this time a little stressful or lonely, please know that your health remains our top priority.

There are so many ways to help our community this holiday season!

The Bandon VFW is collecting non-perishable food and names of people who can benefit from their annual Christmas Meal Basket program (see flyers for more information).

An employee at Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center is organizing a toy drive for local children (see flyer for more information).

Bandon Police Department is also gathering donations for their annual Holiday with a Hero event. If you’d like to donate or know a family in need, please contact Sarah Lakey at the BPD by emailing slakey@bandon-or.gov or calling 541-347-2241 ext. 2.

515 toys, $600 in cash and approximately 100 pounds of food was collected in Bandon for the 23rd annual Rotary Bus Jam Toy and Food Drive on Saturday, Dec. 6! Thank you to Bandon Rotary, Rogue Credit Union, Bandon School District, Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center, Bandon Shopping Center, McKay’s Market, Columbia Bank, Dollar General, and to everyone who so generously donated!

The annual Rotary Bus Jam will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Bandon Shopping Center parking lot in front of the former Rite Aid (and at the Coos Bay and North Bend Bi-Mart stores.) Donations of new unwrapped toys and non-perishable foods will be collected during those hours. Checks and cash are also accepted!
Local sponsors include Bandon-By-The-Sea Rotary, Rogue Credit Union, Dollar General, McKay's Market, Columbia Bank, Dickerhoof Properties, Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center, and the Bandon School District.
Registration for the Bus Jam Toy Distribution, which will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Boys & Girls Club of Coos Bay is now open. To register, click on the link below and look for the Bus Jam graphic.
