It's beautiful. Natural. The best source of nutrition for your baby. It can reduce health issues for both you and your little one..... The list goes on and on, right?
But let's be honest.
Breastfeeding is HARD. At least for me, it is. (I almost exclusively pump, which, ironically, is almost even HARDER. 🤣)
For me, BF is anxiety in not knowing if they're eating enough. It's constantly worrying if my supply is going to dip because my stress levels are insane. Or as a result of me not eating well enough, because food is the last thing on my brain with a screaming newborn. It's sore and cracked ni***es. It's now knowing how in the world I'll keep this up, once I go back to work.
But it's also the bond I'm creating while my baby is looking up at me and knowing I'm his entire world. I created this life and I am sustaining it. MY body is fueling a whole other human life. Even if I can't keep it up for as long as I wanted, or thought I would, I did that s**t. Just feeling my little guy place his hand on my chest and look up at me with his big blue eyes....
There is nothing better than that.
That's what breastfeeding means to me. An irreplaceable bond with my baby for as long as I can have it. Because we all know, the days are long, but the years are so, so short. -Mandi
