Northern Light Acadia Hospital’s Pediatric Intensive Outpatient (Day) Program will be closed on Thursday and Friday, December 25 and 26 for the holidays. Our program will reopen on Monday, December 29.

So proud of our incredible Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) team! 🌟 Not long ago a severely withdrawn and non-verbal patient came to us for treatment. After their appointment, the person needed some extra personal care — and what happened next was pure heart. 💙

The caring folks pictured here took the time to gently wash and shampoo the hair of this person, treating them with unmatched kindness and dignity. Talk about creating a moment that mattered! This is just one example of how the ECT team goes above and beyond, every single day. These members of Team Acadia aren’t just part of the program — they ARE the program. Their compassion is why patients keep telling us how deeply cared for they feel, and that is why our ECT folks are the first team to be collectively named our Moments that Matter Employee(s) of the Month! Way to go!

Huge thanks to this amazing group for showing what true patient-centered care looks like. 🙌 Keep up the amazing work!

🐶 At Northern Light Acadia, we’re so thankful for our incredible teams—both two-legged and four-legged—who bring comfort, smiles, and science-backed healing to our patients. 💙 Did you know that just a few minutes spent with a therapy dog can lower stress and boost serotonin? That’s the power of paw-sitive vibes. 🌟

🎉 Big, well-deserved congratulations to Caid Cummings, RN, Acadia’s latest DAISY Award winner! 🌟

For the past two years, Caid, shown here with his certificate and surrounded by colleagues and Acadia's leadership team, has been lighting up Acadia's adult inpatient units with his positivity, compassion, and rock-solid dedication—to patients, teammates, and new hires alike. 💙

As one coworker put it, “Caid is always so positive—whether with patients or staff—and he’s the first to lend a hand or answer a question. He’s just a great nurse to work with.” And talk about mentorship! Caid recently precepted a new nurse, and his thoughtful, real-world teaching style made a lasting impression—even beyond the bedside. No gaps, no guesswork—just clear, caring guidance that sets others up to thrive. 🧠✨

That’s the kind of leadership we love: leading by example, lifting others up, and still finding time to share a laugh. 😄

🎉 Let's talk about Moments That Matter! 🎉

Today we're sending BIG congrats to Elizabeth Smith, PMHNP, Consult Services at Northern Light Acadia, who works in the emergency department at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, for being named our "Moments that Matter" Employee of the Month!

Acadia's Consult team provides mental health support for people who arrive at ED's in crisis. Amid record patient volumes and a major workflow shift, Beth has stepped up with courage, curiosity, and compassion. She asks tough questions, challenges the status quo, and helps inform a better process for all—proving that real change starts with people who care.
