🐕 No matter how long the road is, Aloka is always right there at the front, leading the way with his tail held high! He takes his job of guarding the journey very seriously, scouting the path ahead to ensure everything is clear and peaceful for the venerable monks.

It is so heartwarming to see him march forward with such confidence and purpose. He isn't just a companion; he’s our brave little trailblazer, making sure every step of the walk is filled with safety and joy!

🐕 Many of us already know that our beloved Aloka the Peace Dog has a beautiful heart-shaped marking on his forehead—a natural symbol of love, compassion, and loving-kindness that has touched so many hearts.

Recently, some of our wonderful followers have shared with us an observation that warmed our hearts: they noticed that Aloka’s tail appears to form the shape of the letter “P”—as in Peace!

We were so touched by this observation. Loving-kindness and heart leading on his head, peace following with his tail. How beautiful is that?

Whether this is a meaningful sign or simply a sweet coincidence, we find it wonderfully fitting for the Peace Dog who has walked thousands of miles carrying this message alongside the venerable monks.

Loving-kindness leads. Peace follows. Aloka truly embodies everything this walk represents.

Thank you for sharing this observation with us. These are the kinds of beautiful details that make this journey even more special.

Studies suggest that dogs are able to sense time passing by tracking how a familiar scent slowly weakens in their environment. Because a dog’s sense of smell is extremely sensitive, they can notice subtle changes in the strength of their owner’s scent left on furniture, clothing, or in the air. As that scent fades at a predictable rate, dogs can form an internal estimate of how long someone has been gone and when they are likely to return.

This may explain why many dogs seem to wait by the door or become alert shortly before their owners arrive home, even after long absences. Rather than using clocks or routines alone, they rely on scent-based cues combined with memory and pattern recognition. The behavior highlights not only their powerful noses but also a surprisingly sophisticated way of understanding time through smell.
