🌾 Community Update: SNAP Benefit Pause & the Urgent Need to Refill Local Food Pantries
(Source: Oklahoma Human Services announcement, Oct 22 2025)
Friends, we wanted to share an important update that will deeply affect Oklahoma families in the coming weeks — and what we can do, together, to help.
Because of a lapse in federal funding, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has directed all states to pause November SNAP (food benefit) processing until funding is restored. That means EBT cards will not receive new benefits in November unless federal funding resumes.
In Oklahoma, this affects nearly 685,000 residents — representing about $128 million in monthly food assistance that typically flows through our local retailers, markets, and suppliers. This is not just a statistic; it’s our neighbors, friends, and community members.
💔 What This Means
It’s unclear whether SNAP participants will be able to use any remaining October benefits after November 1.
Many families will face a gap in their ability to purchase groceries and essentials.
This will create an immediate strain on local food pantries, which are already operating with fewer donations than ever before.
Local retailers like us are part of this food-security network — and right now, the call for community action couldn’t be louder.
🥫 An Urgent Call to Action: Help Restock Local Food Pantries
We’re asking our community to step in and help fill the gap.
More Oklahomans than ever are turning to food banks and local missions for support — and those shelves are thinning fast. Even small donations of canned goods, shelf-stable items, or hygiene products can make a huge impact when multiplied across our community.
At Farm Hippie, we proudly support Mission on Main Street — a local organization doing incredible work feeding families in need.
We’ll be hosting a Food Drive soon to help replenish their shelves, and we’ll share collection dates and details shortly.
If you’re able to give now, we encourage you to:
🧡 Donate directly to Mission on Main Street.
🥫 Drop off non-perishables at any local food pantry.
💬 Share this post to help spread awareness.

💡 Together, We’re Stronger
Oklahomans have always shown up for one another in hard times. This is one of those moments.
Let’s do what we do best — rally together, care for our neighbors, and make sure no one in our community goes hungry.
We’ll share more soon about how you can join our upcoming Mission on Main Street Food Drive.
