📣 CMS announcement for specialty practices treating heart failure & low back pain episodes. The Ambulatory Specialty Model (ASM) is a new mandatory value-based model starting in 2027. It targets select specialists treating heart failure and low back pain, tying Medicare payments to quality, outcomes, and total cost of care instead of volume.

Watching Bad Bunny during the halftime show fall backwards off the stage and trust that the people behind him would catch him stuck with me. That doesn’t happen without trust, timing, and a team that knows their role without hesitation.

One of the most challenging parts of the revenue cycle (and there are plenty) continues to be provider contracting and credentialing.

Provider relations often go silent. Contracts are approved but not loaded. Systems show providers as out-of-network when they aren’t. Accidental terminations happen far too often.

Now add 90-day data verification requirements. Even when payers receive the information on time, many can’t process updates within that same window. By the time one verification is addressed, the next is already past due. Why is CAQH not being utilized for this!?

This isn’t new, but it has escalated significantly in recent years: How does this change? Who is accountable? And how do we protect providers from system failures they do not control?

EBS makes daily calls, sends multiple emails and will message on social media for a contact to obtain answers. But it should not be this way. We are navigating a broken system.

So yes… we brought in our ace. ♠️ Meet Fernis, a highly intelligent Siberian Husky.

He is currently reviewing benefit checks, sniffing out bad data, and wondering why the payer swore “everything was loaded correctly.”

(We’re on it. Again.)

🎉 We survived the first full work week of 2026! 🎉

And apparently… some insurance carriers needed a little extra time to wake up ☕️😅

Benefits? Not loaded yet.
Coverage? Still thinking about it.
