In the Community, on Purpose.

Tonight, we joined community members, law enforcement agencies, families, friends and supporters for a Candlelight Vigil honoring those impacted by last week’s incident at the Mall of Louisiana.

The gathering served as a moment of prayer, reflection and unity following a tragedy that claimed the life of a 17-year-old senior from Lafayette, La and left several others injured.

Through words of encouragement, moments of silence and shared support, those in attendance stood together to honor the victims and uplift everyone affected.

Moments like tonight remind us that healing begins with presence, compassion and a community willing to stand together in difficult times — because real connections don’t happen by chance, they happen when we show up for one another.

💐TODAY, WE CELEBRATE DEPUTY MATTHEWS

On National Administrative Professionals Day, we proudly recognize someone who has become an important part of our Community Policing Unit.

Deputy Matthews plays a valuable role in helping keep CPU organized, supported, and operating smoothly each day. Her dedication, reliability, and willingness to assist wherever needed continue to make a positive impact on our team.

While much of her work happens behind the scenes, the support she provides helps strengthen our efforts and contributes to the work we do throughout the community.

Today, we celebrate Deputy Matthews and invite our community to do the same. Drop a “Heyyyy Deputy Matthews!” or leave a kind word in the comments to help us show appreciation for all that she does.

Thank you, Deputy Matthews, for being an important part of CPU!

🗣️ WE’RE OUTSIDE.

Today, we showed up ON PURPOSE.

Alongside the Mayor’s Office, multiple Law Enforcement agencies and Community partners, we walked the Gus Young neighborhood—connecting with residents, sharing resources, and simply being present.

From conversations on doorsteps to handing out snacks and snowballs, every interaction was an opportunity to build trust and strengthen relationships.

This is what it looks like when a community comes together—on one accord, focused on making a difference where it matters most!

Because real connections don’t happen by chance—they happen on purpose.

STOP SCROLLING! THIS ONE MEANS SOMETHING.

Last night, we didn’t just ride… we showed up with Purpose.

Led by Councilwoman Twahna Harris, “Pedaling for Peace” brought our community together—creating space for reflection and connection.

From moments of prayer to smiles along the route, the energy was real and the message was clear: we’re SAFER. | STRONGER. & BETTER TOGETHER.

We rode in honor of De’Vonte Coleman and Sgt. Caleb Eisworth—two lives that continue to inspire us to stand together and move forward with intention.

Side by side, we’re building something stronger.

We remember. We reflect. We move forward.. Together.

In the Community, on Purpose.

Our Gun Violence Forum created space for meaningful dialogue centered around one of the most important issues impacting our community. Panelists shared valuable insight, attendees asked thoughtful questions, and together, we engaged in honest conversations focused on understanding and seeking solutions.

We extend our sincere thanks to our panelists for their time and perspective, to everyone who attended and contributed to the discussion, and to St Mark United Methodist Church for graciously allowing us to use their facility.

This is just the beginning. We look forward to continuing these conversations and building on this momentum in the future.

Because real connection doesn’t happen by chance — it happens on purpose.

In the Community, on Purpose.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office is proud to introduce Sensory Social with EBRSO — a three-day experience created for individuals on the spectrum and their families to enjoy time together in a space designed with them in mind.

From interactive fun at Dick’s Sporting Goods…
to a relaxed dining experience at Cheesecake Bistro by Copeland’s… to games, food and entertainment at Main Event Baton Rouge…

Each evening will be intentionally set aside to create an environment that is welcoming, comfortable and free of judgment.

This is more than an event — it’s an opportunity for families to show up, be themselves and enjoy meaningful moments together without hesitation.

In the Community, on Purpose.

For the second time, our EBRSO Community Policing Unit partnered with Starbucks to bring a different kind of Coffee with a Cop to Baton Rouge.

And once again, our Deputies stepped behind the counter — serving coffee, sharing laughs and creating real moments with the people we serve every day.

What started as a new approach is quickly becoming a meaningful way to connect! One conversation, one interaction, one cup at a time.

Because real connection doesn’t happen by chance — it happens on purpose.
