March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month 💙

Colon cancer is one of the most preventable cancers — yet it remains one of the most common. The good news? Screening saves lives.

✔️ If you’re 45 or older, it’s time to talk about screening
✔️ Earlier if you have a family history or symptoms
✔️ Colonoscopy can both detect and prevent cancer by removing precancerous polyps

According to the American Cancer Society, when caught early, the 5-year survival rate is over 90%.

Don’t ignore symptoms like re**al bleeding, unexplained weight loss, persistent abdominal pain, or changes in bowel habits.

Prevention matters. Early detection matters. Your health matters.

If you’re unsure about your screening status, let’s have that conversation.

As women enter perimenopause and menopause, we often focus on estrogen and progesterone — but testosterone matters too.

Testosterone plays an important role in:
• Energy and motivation
• Lean muscle mass and bone strength
• Libido and sexual satisfaction
• Mood and mental clarity

Levels naturally decline with age, and some women experience symptoms like fatigue, low libido, brain fog, decreased strength, or reduced overall vitality.

Checking testosterone during perimenopause or menopause can help uncover an often-missed piece of the hormone puzzle and guide a more personalized treatment plan.

If you’re not feeling like yourself, it may be time for a deeper look. Hormone balance isn’t one-size-fits-all — and you deserve to feel your best.

Sleep is not a luxury — it’s foundational medicine.

Devices like the Oura Ring give us deeper insight into what’s happening overnight — tracking sleep stages, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, and recovery patterns. But data is only powerful when we use it.

Poor sleep impacts blood sugar, inflammation, hormones, cognition, and cardiovascular risk. Consistent, restorative sleep improves immune function, metabolic health, mood, and longevity.

In our MDVIP practice, we look beyond “hours in bed” and focus on sleep quality and recovery trends — because optimizing sleep is one of the most effective preventive strategies we have.

If your wearable is showing low readiness scores or fragmented sleep, let’s talk. Your body repairs at night — and better sleep means better health. 🌙

Chromium doesn’t get much attention—but it plays a powerful role in metabolic health.

At our MDVIP practice, we focus on optimizing the small things that make a big difference.

✨ Benefits of chromium:
• Supports healthy blood sugar balance
• Enhances insulin sensitivity
• May help reduce sugar cravings
• Supports healthy weight management
• Plays a role in lipid metabolism

Chromium works at the cellular level to help insulin do its job more effectively—keeping energy steady and reducing those afternoon crashes.

If you’re working on metabolic health, prediabetes, or simply want better energy stability, chromium may be worth discussing at your next visit.

Not all olive oils are created equal 🫒

When it comes to extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO), quality matters — for both flavor and your health.

High-quality EVOO is rich in polyphenols, which help reduce inflammation, support heart health, and protect your cells from oxidative stress. But many products on store shelves are overly processed, diluted, or oxidized — meaning you’re not getting the full benefit.

In my MDVIP practice, we focus on small, daily habits that create long-term health. Choosing a high-quality olive oil is one of those simple but powerful upgrades for your kitchen — and your cardiovascular health.

Small changes. Big impact.

Starting your day with protein + fiber isn’t just about staying full — it’s about supporting your cells at the most fundamental level.

🧬 Why it matters for cellular function:
• Protein provides amino acids — the building blocks your cells use to repair, regenerate, and create enzymes, hormones, and neurotransmitters.
• Fiber stabilizes blood sugar, reduces inflammation, and feeds your gut microbiome — which directly influences immune function, metabolism, and cellular signaling.
• Together, they reduce oxidative stress and insulin spikes that can damage cells over time.

🥑🍳 The result?
More stable energy, better metabolic health, improved hormone balance, and long-term protection against chronic disease.

Start your day fueling your cells — not just your cravings.

🧬 Why You Should Check Lipoprotein(a) 🧬

You can have perfect cholesterol… and still be at higher risk for heart disease.

That’s where Lipoprotein(a) — or Lp(a) — comes in. It’s a genetically driven cholesterol particle that can significantly increase your risk of:
❤️ Heart attacks
🧠 Stroke
🩺 Aortic valve disease

👉 The tricky part? Diet and exercise don’t change Lp(a) — and most people never know their level unless it’s tested.

✨ Knowing your Lp(a) allows us to:
• Personalize your heart disease prevention plan
• Start earlier, smarter risk reduction
• Protect your long-term cardiovascular health

At our MDVIP practice, we believe in proactive, not reactive, medicine. Ask us if Lp(a) testing is right for you — your heart will thank you! 💙

✨ Boost Your GLP-1 Results Naturally ✨

Already on a GLP-1 medication? You may be able to enhance your results with the right metabolic support. 💪

🔹 Berberine
• Supports blood sugar balance
• Improves insulin sensitivity
• May enhance weight loss and metabolic response

🔹 Chromium
• Helps stabilize blood sugar
• Reduces cravings
• Supports healthy glucose metabolism

✨ Together, these nutrients can help your body respond better to GLP-1 therapy — meaning improved energy, better metabolic control, and more sustainable results.

As always, talk with your physician before adding supplements — especially when on prescription medications.

☕️ Looking to switch up your morning coffee routine? Your energy doesn’t have to take a hit! Here are some healthier, gentler swaps to try:

🌿 Matcha – Smooth, sustained energy with antioxidants and L-theanine for focus without the jitters.
💜 Ube Latte – A beautiful purple yam drink rich in antioxidants and naturally caffeine-free.
🌰 Chicory Root Coffee – Coffee-like taste, supports gut health, and zero caffeine.
🍄 Mushroom Coffee – Adaptogens + lower caffeine = calmer energy and better focus.
🌾 Golden Milk (Turmeric Latte) – Anti-inflammatory, cozy, and calming.

✨ Your morning ritual should support your energy, hormones, and gut — not stress them.

Which swap will you try tomorrow? 💬

This morning was a matcha + ube morning for me 💜. Looks like Mardi Gras in a cup!
