Recovering after birth is no small feat. It takes time, patience, and a whole lot of self-care. It’s easy to get caught up in focusing entirely on your baby (they’re adorable, after all!), but here’s the thing: taking care of yourself is just as important.

Here are a few simple tips to help you through those early weeks:

✨ Rest as much as you can
I know, I know “Sleep when the baby sleeps” feels like the most overused advice ever. But honestly? It works. Even if it’s just closing your eyes for 20 minutes during a nap, those little pockets of rest add up. It’s tempting to tackle the to-do list during quiet moments, but letting go of that pressure can be such a game changer for your recovery.

✨ Stay hydrated
Keep a water bottle nearby at all times. It’s too easy to forget when you’re focused on baby snuggles and feedings. Staying hydrated helps your body heal, keeps your energy up, and if you’re breastfeeding, it’s a big help there, too!

✨ Ask for help
This one can be tough, but let me tell you: asking for help doesn’t make you weak, it makes you wise. Whether it’s asking someone to drop off a meal or hold the baby while you shower, that extra support can make all the difference. You don’t have to do it all on your own.

✨ Be kind to yourself
Your body just did something amazing. It’s okay to give yourself time to heal and adjust. Lean on your support system, let go of the idea of “doing it all,” and remember, you’re doing an incredible job. 💖

Remember, your body just did something amazing, and it deserves time to heal. Be kind to yourself, and don’t hesitate to lean on others during this time you don’t have to do it all alone. LAtchlly is here to help!! 💖

🍼Introducing a bottle to your baby? Here are some tips for a smooth transition!
Take it Slow: Start offering the bottle during calm moments when your little one isn't overly hungry. Begin with a small amount of breast milk or formula and gradually increase as they become more comfortable.⠀ ⠀
Ni**le Flow Matters: Choose a ni**le with a slow flow similar to breastfeeding. This helps prevent overfeeding and allows them to adjust to the new method. You can also practice paced feeding. Hold baby in a more upright position, keep the bottle horizontal, and take short pauses every few sucks to mimic the natural rhythm of breastfeeding. This supports better digestion and helps baby recognize their fullness cues. Adjust to a faster flow as they grow.⠀ ⠀
Involve Others: If your baby is hesitant, have someone else, like a partner or caregiver, introduce the bottle. This can make the transition smoother and less confusing for your little one. Remember, patience is key! 💚👶✨

Wondering if your body is keeping up with your baby's milk needs? Here’s how it works: it’s all about supply and demand! Every time your baby latches and nurses, your body releases oxytocin, which tells your brain to send the 'make more milk!' signal down to your breasts. Think of it like a custom order: baby demands, body delivers. The more frequently your baby
nurses, the more milk your body produces. It's like nature's way of refilling the stock! 🛒💡 Whether it’s regular nursing or one of those 'nurse all day' cluster feeds, trust that your body is responding and adapting. The takeaway? Frequent feeding = better milk supply! 🌿

The letdown reflex is a key part of breastfeeding that makes sure your baby is getting the milk they need. When your baby latches, your body releases two hormones; oxytocin and prolactin. ✨Oxytocin causes the muscles around your milk ducts to contract, pushing milk toward the ni**le. This is what’s known as the letdown reflex.
✨Letdowns can happen even when you’re not feeding. Sometimes, hearing your baby cry, thinking about them, or even just being near them can trigger that reflex and cause milk to flow.
🧐What does it feel like? Some people experience a tingling or a pins and needles sensation. Others don’t feel anything at all, but the milk still flows. Not feeling the letdown doesn’t mean it’s not happening, every body responds differently.
🤱Most feeding sessions involve multiple letdowns, so even when your baby is nursing for longer stretches, your body keeps sending milk their way. It’s all part of your body’s natural process to keep your baby fed and happy.

Babies have their own way of telling us when they’re ready for a meal🍼🤱. Look out for those adorable early cues like lip smacking, rooting, and gentle stirring. When those tummies start rumbling, it’s time to respond with nourishment and comfort 💕 Remember that it’s always best to feed your baby on demand, whenever they show signs of hunger. Sometimes, that will be 20 minutes after the last feed, and that’s okay!

“Is feeding supposed to be this hard?”

Feeding should not be a battle. A baby’s tongue needs full mobility to latch deeply, transfer milk efficiently, protect the ni**le, and support digestion.

A tongue tie occurs when the tongue’s movement is restricted by a short or tight frenulum (the tissue connecting the tongue to the floor of the mouth). This can make breastfeeding challenging for both baby and parent.

Tongue ties often lead to:
• Difficulty latching
• Clicking sounds
• Poor weight gain
• Long or inefficient feeds
• Gassiness + fussiness
• Sore ni**les

Not every baby with a tie needs a procedure. Function is what matters most. When needed, a frenectomy (a simple procedure to release the tie) can significantly improve feeding outcomes.

But release is only part of the journey. After a tongue or lip tie release or revision, babies need time, support, and gentle guidance to use their new mobility. That’s where follow-up care makes all the difference.

Without post-release therapy, babies may continue to struggle with tightness, compensations, or feeding challenges. With proper oral exercises and lactation support, feeding becomes easier, more comfortable, and more efficient.

Feeding should not be a battle. We’re here to help you understand what’s going on and what your baby needs to thrive! 📆Book your consult today:
