This year, Giving Tuesday holds special meaning: I'm stepping into a dream I've been growing for years. I'm preparing for the soft opening of Hmegrown, a community-rooted wellness project offering:

-Trauma Informed Yoga
-Community Health Workshops
-Accessible Wellness Offering
-Sliding Scale and Donation based offerings over time

As I’m building this studio, I’m learning so much about myself.

About patience. About trusting the slow-growing things.

About letting a vision shape me instead of trying to control every detail.

I’ve shared so many logistical updates… but I also want to start sharing the heart of this journey too; what’s growing in me as I create a space for us to move, breathe, and gather.

Hmegrown Studio is taking space and I can finally say it out loud: a new home for movement, wellness, and community is coming to Baytown. ✨✨✨

This space has been built from quiet vision, planting seeds, and the deep desire to offer my community a place to breathe, move, and feel held. 🧘🏾‍♀️

This studio was grown with intention, shaped by experience, and held up by community support.

Come check out Mat Pilates with me every Tuesday at 7 PM! Class is $10.

Mat Pilates remains a foundational reminder to me of just how powerful Pilates really is.

Most people think of Pilates as just the reformer, cadillac, tower, and all of the other flashy apparatuses. And may have the expectation that mat is easy, boring, not worth doing.

And while it's true that mat isn't always the most glamorous, it's a great reminder that things don't need to be complicated to be effective
the mat gives you what you need, whether that's strength or a stretch, but it'll make you work for it!

Tuesdays, 7 PM Mat Pilates
Wednesdays, 10 AM Gentle Yoga
Thursdays, 6 PM Yoga for Strength and Flexibility + 7:15 PM Gentle Yoga

Happy Wednesday! 🫶🏾

Today’s pose of the day: Warrior 2

Warrior 2, also known as Virabhadrasana II, is a standing yoga pose that strengthens the legs and hamstrings. It involves a wide stance, straight back, and extended arms, with a gaze fixed over the front hand. The pose stretches the hips and improves stamina and strength.

With so much going on in this pose, Warrior 2 is a wonderful exploration in finding ease within effort. Where can you learn to relax, while you hold strength in other areas? Can you find peace, stillness and fearlessness amidst it all? Can you connect with your own warrior strength while keeping an open, loving heart?

March ✨

March felt like the reawakening.

I went to Vipassana, gone for 12 days and 10 of those spent in silence and meditation. Things got clear and unclear. Realizing what mattered and didn’t. Developed this deeper awareness to how I respond to the world. Listened to the birds. Listened to the trees. Watched the sunrise. Watched the moon glow. Cried. Shedded parts of myself that I no longer needed to hold onto. Recognized some old trauma responses. And cried some more.

The longest paths always start with the first steps.

In Buddhist practice, which Vipassana falls into, let go of old sankharas. Cleared my mental volitions and defilements.

I recognized the places, people, and things that felt like home. That feel safe. That make me feel loved and cared for. And that pour into me as I pour into them. 🫂

March has always felt like where the year truly begins, as that is when Spring ushers herself in. 🪻🌱

Sadhu, Sadhu, Sadhu 🤲🏾🙏🏾📿
