I finally got around to writing another blog. I'm really proud of this one:

Discover how the ancient Greek philosopher Epicurus anticipated modern ADHD-friendly therapy. Psychiatrist Jess Levy explores Epicurus’ simple formula for peace—friendship, curiosity, and pleasure without guilt—and how his “Garden” offers a fresh, compassionate model for mental health in t...

It's about when ADHD medication management doesn't go as planned. You don't have to be a member to attend, but you do need to register. (See link above). My new blog post is live! I can’t begin to count how many of my patients have been told they are lazy, or that they can’t have ADHD because they are intelligent and good at masking their symptoms.

Ever been told you can't have ADHD because you're too smart? Think it's just laziness? The truth is people of all ages and intelligence can have ADHD. Being aware of the symptoms, finding a thoughtful provider, and objective ADHD tests such as QBCheck at home ADHD testing can help you meet your

I just learned of an awesome hack to reduce distractions from your phone... set it to grayscale.

This is BRILLIANT and here’s why: It doesn’t rely on will power, and it serves as an immediate strong visual reminder every time you look at your phone. You also took away some of the the reward that comes with using your phone, and made it more rewarding to view the colorful world around you.

I’m a staunch believer that will power is overrated, especially for us ADHDers. At best it’s exhausting to exert energy to push through, at worst it’s discouraging when you slip and fail. Instead, it’s far better to create systems that, when implemented correctly, encourage you to make healthy choices and discourage you from veering off course.

Here’s an article on how to do it for Android and IPhones:

There are many ways to make accessing your phone more of a mindful activity. One thing you can do is switch your display to grayscale. We'll show you how...

Hi all it's been a while since my last post, but that doesn't mean I've been sitting idle. A+ Psychiatry continues to grow. I am infinitely grateful for all the support from friends and family.

A couple of updates:
1. I recently had the honor of being a guest on David Greenwood's Overcoming Distractions podcast. This is one of my favorite podcasts and I'm glad to have had this opportunity. https://overcomingdistractions.com/understanding-complex-adhd-and-treatment-options/

2. I now offer at home computer testing for ADHD! QbCheck is an FDA-Cleared test for evaluating ADHD and measuring treatment response. I can do the ADHD evaluation myself, or testing only on referral from another provider.

Have an A+ Day!

Here is a guest blog post I wrote for Direct Specialty Care Alliance (DSC Alliance) about why I chose to make A+ Psychiatry a Direct Specialty Care practice.

After months of hard work and preparation, I am open for business. While it would be presumptuous, for me to compare starting a business with having an actual baby, A+ Psychiatry is nonetheless my baby. And, just like most new parents, I feel a mix of exhaustion, praise, worry, and hope. I know ever...
