On this night, 24 years ago, 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 fire fighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for their morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00am on Sept 11th 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today, and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, Kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

Its that time of year again folks. Fall harvest begins about the same time as the "Pumpkin Spice" drinks and foods start showing up. Remember to share the road and use caution when approaching large equipment. They have large blind spots making it hard to see. A few minutes delay is a lot better than a life altering accident.

Today, The Beardstown Fire Department and The Beardstown Police Department had the honor of escorting into town, the 6th annual "RED" Ride of Central Illinois.

The ride was comprised of 300+ motorcycles and jeeps, and other vehicles. It stared in Jacksonville with stops at the Beardstown Elks Lodge, Havana, Athens, and ending in Springfield.

"RED" stands for Remember Everyone Deployed. And the purpose of the ride is to raise funds to provide care packages to overseas deployed troops at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Today was an exciting day for Beardstown Ambulance and for the citizens of Cass County. One that we have been waiting for for almost two and a half years. Today we accepted delivery of 2 brand new ambulances made by Osage Ambulances in Linn Missouri. Both ambulance are 2024 Ford F550 chasis with four wheel drive, liquid gel suspension, they have identical compartment layout and other features, which include power loading cots. They are not quite ready to be put into service yet, they still have to be stocked with supplies, have some additional equipment installed and be inspected and certified. We would like to thank the Beardstown Health Care Foundation for their assistance in acquiring these new rigs. Without their help, this day would probably not be a reality.
