We had a wonderful time interacting with our community on Saturday in Port Royal at the OktoPRfest. Even though so many of you are still without power, including some of our staff, everyone was making the best of it and coming together to support one another.
Given that my staff and I worked on Saturday, we had already planned to take today off so that we could return to work on Tuesday rested and ready to take care of our patients. But honestly, my heart is heavy today. As we learn more about the catastrophic damage happening in our neighboring states, my heart goes out to those suffering right now from the devastating effects of hurricane Helene. The devastation is beyond imagining.
Even though I often work from home even when I give my staff the day off from clinic, I just can't seem to focus on my to-do list while so many are suffering. Instead, I've been spending time looking for organizations in need and ways to donate. It seems like such a small thing, but I know in disasters such as this, money moves faster and helps people in need get immediate access to resources that will help them best, whatever their circumstances are.
We'll be ready and open tomorrow, Tuesday, to treat all our wonderful patients, continuing to help them along their healing journey. I will do my best to be of a light heart, even in these difficult times because I know how important it is to hold that healing space for you. Those who know me well know that the best soundtrack in our clinic is laughter. We laugh a lot here, even while serious healing is taking place. Together, I know we will find the pure healing energy of laughter again, even if through our tears. In the meantime, for those who are able, please consider donating to organizations in need that speak to your heart.
I am sending prayers to all affected by Helene and holding you all in the light of healing🙏❤️ -- Dr. Joy
